Sabena DC10 on April 19th 1984

Post by Bottie »

Rare request maybe, but can someone confirm the registration of the Sabena DC-10 that arrived around from India (I think) around 0530 am?

Maybe a question for the 'anciens' among us ;)

At that date Sabena had OO-SLA, OO-SLB, OO-SLC, OO-SLD and OO-SLE in their fleet, not mentioning the 9Q-CLI (don't think it had SN c/s at that moment, can be wrong however), so you can be right. Do you know from where it arrived?

It's nothing against you personal, Bottie, but shouldn't we better open a dedicated topic for such requests?

I mean, if you take a look at the topics opened last weeks about these kind of requests, it's a HUGE number!

Rule #1:

... we would like to create ONE topic for each day for each airport. This means that pictures, logs, Expected and requests of the same day will all be posted in one and the same topic if they all have to do with the same airport of course....

hmmm

EDIT 2

I have to admit, it's a HUGE number ...

I don't want to hijack the topic, but that's why the planespotting forums are there - no ? . To share the logs and help with requests and additionally to publish some spotting news + pictures.

Sorry, I have no registration.

I believe Bombay was SN's only destination in India throughout the eighties.
The routing was probably something like BRU-DXB/AUH-MUM/BKK-KUL/SIN-MNL?

I can not remember the timings of these Asian flights. Obviously a timetable from that year could clarify a lot.
05:30 could have been one of the African arrivals as well, no?

Not exactly but i know OO-SLE did alot of the routes to Bombay those days. My dad was F/O with sabena and if i'm correct if they had a route to Bombay they had a 9/10 chanse it was OO-SLE.

It seems to be a trend that if one person asks for a reg all the others follow. But no problem for me, it was just a simple idea. Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me...

Unpossible to trace as the airport database doesn't go back that far.
You have the choice between OO-SLA, B, C, D and E. They all were rotated on the Asian, African and American network. Perhaps a spotter and his private logbook may help.

Not true, they (once) owned 5 aircraft and leased 8. Also the OO-SLG and OO-SLH were leased from Lufthansa. Although written into Belgian register that does not mean it's owned by a company, in this case Sabena.

More info about Sabena (+ all other Belgian companies) and fleet can be found on my site via this link.

I don't think this has to be your problem anyway, it was a question from my girlfriend, she wondered if the airplane (that brought her to Brussels when she was adopted) still flies around, that's it, not trend

If it's the OO-SLE it went to FedEx in June 1992 as full cargo plane with registration N321FE.
