Translation article:

"SN Brussels Airlines will do everything to stay
the world known reference concerning Africa"
says Etienne de Nil, vice-president commercial Benelux & Africa.
SNBA is looking if it's possible to start a local hub , possible in Cameroon this year
and don't exclude the possibility of new long hauls flights from Brussels. SNBA is offering 13 destinations in Africa from Brussels , good for 11000 seats weekly.

The most important things in the article :

* They are looking if it is possible
to start a local hub , possible in Cameroon.

* It is possible that they will start
some new long haul destinations
from Brussels.
Best regards,

Airbuske

Wouldn't be too sure of that. As with most NEW Business class-seats you really slip down the seat while sleeping. Only full 180 degrees gives optimal comfort! BUT of course the width, the service and the pillows make it much more interesting then flying economy (duh)

I disagree here, having being lucky enough to fly both BA and Lufthansa recently in long haul biz, I prefer the Lufthansa ones.
Mainly because on BA... ok you are fully flat, but with the pitch of the aircraft in the cruise eg 3 degrees up, you are either facing downhill or uphill. Whereas on Lufthansa, ok it's not flat and you don't slip down the bed, unless you are very small maybe. Which makes one more point the LH ones are longer.
So I don't think SN have made a bad decision here.

Not sure that picture of the seats with the lions is such a great idea. Makes me wonder, what happened to the passengers? ;-)

I like the mini-site, especially the making off of the photoshoot :)

nothing really exceptional to me.

just a (very) necessary update of those very old airbus.

the funny thing to hear was one of the head of the commercial department of SN stating on TV that it was "reinforcing SN's leadership position on the African Continent..."
excuse me Sir but you fly three airplanes on multiple-stops operations network while AF, KL, LH, BA, ET, KQ (to name a few) all fly point to point or almost with a much younger fleet and some with ptv. And no new destinations for almost three years if we except all the code-share propaganda.

where is modesty in all this ?

Nothing to new about them. They look like a lot of other bizzclass seats. I could be wrong tough. I've never been in one.

Hi all,

I think refurbishment came just in time. It is not only about fancy things, but mainly about renewal and giving the passengers the idea being in a 'new' plane (after all we users are in the passenger cabin, not?).

I flew with SN, SNBA in business several times and they are really good, also compared to others (I also flew KL, SR in business).

I saw Kanaal Z yesterday evening. They not only mentioned Douala as potential hub for African operations, but also Kigali and other African airports where SNBA could go. De Nil (SNBA responsible for Africa) said in an interview that they were working on several potential projects and that one of them could materialize (if you work on 10 potential projects and one will materialize we would be happy) ... About the project in Cameroun Kanaal Z said SNBA was amongst the last two candidates (was there a kind of pre-selection since there were more candidates at the beginning?). Kanaal Z also confirmed the extension to 6 inter-continental planes for further strengthening their position in Africa.

regards,
Danny

It seems that it's not individual TVs in economy. The new economy seats might just be a new cover and a different spray of foam for a more modern looking shape. They say they've replaced the ceiling CRTs with LCDs in economy (did they add any?) and improved the in-seat sound system. I wouldn't count on AVOD in business either. I don't see them making that kind of investment.

Let's face it, when they say they invested 10 MLN € in the longhaul fleet, it really means that's what they had to pay for the 3 D-checks and while they were at it they freshened up the cabin with the spare change.

Also, today is end May 2006. If they want to double their fleet by 2010 (i.e. 31/12/2009), they should really get started coz I don't think they can swallow such capacity increases too close to each other. My best guess is 1 plane in '07, 1 in '08 and 1 in '09. I also guess they're looking at A330s, and not new ones if possible.

I also expected PTV's in Y-class, but on the other hand you get more leg room thanks to the absence of the technical boxes under the seats that comes together with PTV's.

Meanwhile they have increased their seatpitch in economy up to 33 inch !!!!!!!!!!!!! WAUW

If I can choose between PTV + 31-inch seat and NO PTV + 33-inch seat, I would go for the latter one.

Kanaal Z mentioned also that six airplanes from the european network will be moved to the African continent and they will double the capacity between Brussels and Africa, means six long haul's.

Did somebody knows when the second A330 is going to SR Technics for it's maintenance and refurbishment?
