Asian cargo also brings a lot of trouble: yesterday, like many other days, the customs at BRUcargo found a lot of counterfeit articles coming from China: watches, designer clothes, computer programmes, etc.Allnipponairways wrote:asian cargo bring in a lot of work and money a
There is also VAT fraud on Asian goods which are suppopsed to be in transit in Brussels (false papers show export to another EU country, thus avoiding VAT), but are in fact delivered in Belgium.

The only time I flew ANA was on a domestic route in Japan, between Haneda (the other Tokyo airport) and Osaka. It was one of the hourly B747s, packed to the ceiling, those whose landing gear had been reinforced because of the many landings...
Never seen such a crowd on a 747...

I am sure you know that Japanese have very little vacation: one week at the most. So they can save a whole year for that week.Allnipponairways wrote:He japanese like to travell ... i have always full 747-400 ... sometimes i even wonder where they get the money to travell all the time even when the economy is down the draine ...
Another factor: companies compensate their managers for the lack of vacation by offering them "business trips" abroad. Little business, but much trip.

That's right André. Indeed for japanese their trip to for example Europesn26567 wrote:Another factor: companies compensate their managers for the lack of vacation by offering them "business trips" abroad. Little business, but much trip.
is considered as a business trip.
They mostly spend their vacation in their home country.
Many people do not understand this mentality.

Sadly, full does not mean profitable.Lyulka wrote:Brussels - Tokyo aircraft which are full? Some time ago somewhere on the forum when the Sabena Brussels - Tokyo flight was mentioned it was told beiing unprofitable!
Brussels - Tokyo doesn't show a high yield factor. You can compare the situation to Johannesburg. Sabena had many passengers on these routes, but even then they were not profitable.
These routes are probably among the first long hauls to return to BRU when times get better. But we're not there yet.
Much depends on the general cost of a certain operation and a whole range of variables. A high seat occupancy is an important element to contribute to success, but not the only one.
