Emirates is threatening Airbus with cancellation

From the outside, the 320, to me, looks bigger. From the inside, They are so close, I couldn't tell them apart strictly by fuse diameter. It surprises me when I read about someone raving about the space in a 320 compared to the 737. They are just about the same. Maybe other folks are more sensitive than me.
onre guy made a photo comparison
The floor of the A320 is above center of diameter, and this makes the A320 restrict the window passenger head room, but it is wider at the place where your butt is on the seat.
The 737 feels narrower at butt level, and it is a few inches, but the window passenger does not get a sore neck. The logic it was reported is that it gives the A320 bigger cargo volume underneath

Emirates canselling the orders is just not the right thing to do but improving the a340 might be a good thing for airbus to do
maybe the a340-600 might take the competition place of the a350 if improved and get more customers
I think the A340 (smaller versions) is the nicest looking airplane since the stretch DC-8. I am not an Airbus fan, but it has great lines.abishay wrote:Thats sad to hear because i like the a340 than the triple seven. Unfortunately for Airbus (and good for Boeing) , efficiency wins over looks. I like to see the 777 beating the A340, but it’s a shame to see a good looking aircraft loose out.
the 777 has a bump on its head which makes it look like it was designed by and old person who doesnt know how to make planes look cool and niceRC20 wrote:I think the A340 (smaller versions) is the nicest looking airplane since the stretch DC-8. i think the reason why boeing is winning is because the japanese design the planes
Lets settle this here. The 737 is ok, the A320 series is wider and more comfortable in general. And based on a newer design. And quieter from my experience.
Next the 777 is an impressive beast. It is also big (3x3x3) and loud inside the cabin. The A330 on the other hand is a different animal, smaller cabin (2x4x2) and a lot quieter in flight. I have flown a lot in both - the A330 wins for me hands down due to cabin lay out and the fact it is so damn quiet.

Come on people, can't you try to stay on topic.
This topic should be about Emirates' possible Airbus orders/cancellations and not about looks of planes in general.
Looks are SUBJECTIVE so everybody has a different opinion.
So let's please try to stay on track or the topic will have to be archived.

It's about time someone got this discussion back on topic. Therefore below links.
The first one is about the actual emirates order for A346's. The article clearly says that emirates has a pending order for 12 frames + 8 on option. According to local newspapers, Emirates has the right to convert the order to a380', should the 346's not correspond to the set standards. The article also mentionnes that this move by emirates can be interpreted as a strategic move out of the airbus deal, as boeing's triple 7 seems to be a very viable competitor for the offer.
Facts:
- Emirates has an order for 12 a346's (+ 8 options)
- in case of bad performance, they have the right to convert to 380's
- boeings' 777 can be a viable alternative
The rest is speculation and food for thought/discussion.
The second article in the below link is about an emirates order for 2 A380F's that is being converted to passenger A380's as the freighter versions' specifications still have to be set. This brings the total order book for Emirates A380's to 45 planes.

Hope the info answers (or raises) some questions

i think the reason why boeing is winning is because the japanese design the planesjapanese are really good designer in cars and planes.
Since when have Boeing aircraft been designed anywhere than in Seattle and Wichita? Boeing has contracted for parts design in a number of countries (Japan, France, Russia, China, India, etc.) to take advantage of 1) lower cost labor, 2) increase the engineering-capacity availability, 3) contribute to cost-offsetting for the purchase of Boeing planes, etc. In all cases, Boeing, who remains responsible for the final design, lays out the overall design parameters and requirements.
