3 wounded (2 firefighters and 1 employee of Sabena Technics).

Insurance companies will pay for this normally. However the indirect costs (image + loss of revenues because you have less planes ... is most likely for the companies).

this is extremely sad news, how did it happen?

And didn't a similar thing happen quite a few years ago in the Sabena times?

Hi,

I just read on A.net that all technical data (technical files, databases,...) were lost. If this is true, this would mean that an unbelievable amount of knowledge is simply lost. One starts to doubt the future of Sabena Technics after reading these things.

Article can be found here:

I sincerely hope they made back-ups of everything.

Kind regards,
bAIR

Yes, Sabena technics already lost a hangar in a fire in 1997. In that hanger they stocked all Boeing replacement parts.

By the way,

I just crossed this article released some 40 minutes ago confirming that indeed 2 Armenian planes have been destroyed in the fire.

If that's the case, I hope for Sn technics they do have backups of all those documents (in other buildings, safe, ...) and I hope they have a Business Continuity Plan (taking backups on a regular base, making agreements with other companies to "rent" hangars, ...) so work can be restarted almost immediately , .... .

These pictures are shocking, what a huge destruction! it's tragic !
Luckily the SN A330 was in Zurich instead of beeing in that hangar...
Anyway, good luck to everyone involved! my thoughts are with you!

Thanks for the pictures. No live lost; that the most important. Hangar and aircrafts can be replaced.

What a sad day for Belgian aviation, AGAIN.

All my thoughts are with the injured colleagues of Sabena Technics and all their fellow colleagues. I have the occasion to see many of them in my daily job and they are all very smart guys. I'm really sad. :(

Let's hope they will overcome all this and that their praised know-how will help them out.

If they irrecoverably lost valuable data that was stored on computers as a result of a fire at a single location, they are the only ones to blame for that.

The following article (with pictures) will give you a good idea of the rage of the fire. I know I was impressed by it.

All my compliments to the firefighters who did tried their best to limit the consequences of this disaster.

No. They have two hangars, the 40 and the 41. I think it was the 40 that was destroyed. I might be wrong though.
