It would really surprise me...

A few Asian carriers put people on a bus to CDG and AMS, but starting operations to BRU?

Maybe SQC, CX or BR are hiring staff for the cargo operations?

Hello,

That would be very good news! Japanese carriers are very good and Brussels desperatly needs long-haul operations!
When Sabena (and ANA) linked BRU to NRT, those flights used to be full, so there is a potential. Even though LHR, CDG, FRA, AMS, FCO and even ZRH are huge competitors for flights to Japan...
That could also be an opportunity for SNBA to find a new codeshare partner...

And maybe, you could then be based in BRU rather than LHR, flying Cobra??
I'm sure that would make your life much easier.... :)

That airline is maybe the mistirious partner which SNBA is looking for, to fill the gap between Brussels and Asia.

I hope we'll know more within a few days ....

The two statements are not incompatible. There were a lot of Japanese holidaymakers on cheap fares.

Lyulka: NRT was unprofitable for SN due to low yields.

A lot of pax booked with too cheap tickets!

Yeah but that not answers my questions ... but a lot of people i hav efrom belgium have to be transportred to partis and frankfurt and to london to fly to narita japan ... this is very expensive ... so if the tickets price would be profitable for the companies , and not give cheap fares ... then it would be very profitable ... So ... maybe ...

I have flown 4 times to NRT since 2000 (via CPH, CDG, LHR and FRA). There were always some 20 passengers in transit to BRU like me. At the time Sabena was flying to NRT, it was always cheaper to fly from BRU to NRT via somewhere else. Sad, because I would have undoubtfully preferred a nonstop flight...

It is a pitty that for far destinations from BRU
one always has to rely on foreign airlines and plenty op stops.
Non-stops from BRU are sadly of the past.

ANA,

don't know if there is a relation, but I heard rumours about a few Belgians staring a new airline with Belgian AOC. They would use use the former LH 747F, and have a base in Ostend. There was no imediate intention to start ops ex OST.

So, for the moment just rumours :!:

I hope so...
If SNBA is planning to start flights to asia in codeshare agreement, this rumour could be true... :D
If on the other hand a new airline would start operations out of EBBR to asia this could be a serious problem for the future asia-plans of SNBA.

We'll see what happens ?

744rules: you are talking about a cargo operation being set up?

LH B742F: I thought they were going to lease them to Air Atlanta and lease them back when the capacity is needed?
