Hi Comet,
Sounds thoroughly dreadful to me. That is why I love to fly with quality carriers (without being snobbish).

Travelling your way is safer anyway.

Found this an interesting topic, however most of the replies are only about the funny side of it.
But what about the serious side of this :?: :?: :?:

Through the years the job of Flight Attendent lost already much of his glamour.
If now, for some companies the size of the bra cup is more important than experience and knowledge.... and those with the nicest boobs take the place of FAA qualified crew members.....because they are nicer ??? and they don't have to pay them as much as qualified personal.

What will be the next step ????.... a chippendale instead of the captain in the cockpit ???

In that case I prefer serious companies with better dressed FA who also take care about security.

:D :D [/i]
Keep 'Em Flying !!

Twan I agree with what you are saying. It is better to have competent cabin crew who give the impression of being in control when they need to be, rather than some bimbo who is only capable of batting her eyelashes and giggling.

Hello Twan,

I believe those nice-looking ladies ARE qualified flight attnds. The FAA is strict and would not allow them on board if they were not qualified...
And believing they're not qualified just because they're good looking is prejudice!

Furthermore, rather then a new trend, this sounds more to me like a return to what aviation used to be. Even though I'm too young to have known that time, I've always heard that flight attnds USED TO BE good looking, nice, charming and single ladies...
Before various discrimination lawsuits cost airlines millions for alledgely being predjudiced and resulted in the current mix of American grannies and European fatties we all meet to often on board...

I realize this might sound harsh, but we've all (at least the men here) had that first reaction of disappointement when boarding a flight and all we see on board are... not too good looking female flight attnds or even worse... an all male crew! LOL

But before I get too many harsh reactions, I 'll say that I don't support SIA's hard rules that requires female FA's to be under 30 and single... even though they made the 3Singapore Girls" quite legendary...

Cultural differences I guess.

Is SIA still applying this rule today ???

Hello Bart:

AFAIK that also goes for Virgin Atlantic flight attnds.
They have a choice of 4 approved haircuts and can't display anything personal (with the exception of ONE ring), so they're only allowed VS earrings or nail polish!!!
And yes, they could be fired for gaining weight....

Probably part of the reason why they're constantly trying to hire new "junior FA" because most girls (and guys I guess) can't take that sort of pressure very long...
