Kingfisher ordered a set of 5 firm A340-500 and 5 options.
This would mean that there are more A340-500 than -200: the current 345 orders stood at 26, so now it reaches 31, while A342, no longer on offer, sold 28 frames in total.
I think a lot of Boeing fans declared no A345 has been ordered since Worldliner became available. Well, Worldliner is in service since 26th of February, the other customers with outstanding orders are Air India, Air Canada, Emirates and Eva Air - and they have no fresh orders.

Re: New A340-500!
Yes, great news ! Certainly because the order is for A340-500HGW, the newer variant with larger lift-capacity.chornedsnorkack wrote:Kingfisher ordered a set of 5 firm A340-500 and 5 options.
Don't count on the Air Canada planes ever being built ! They've gone 777/787.chornedsnorkack wrote:other customers with outstanding orders are Air India, Air Canada, Emirates and Eva Air - and they have no fresh orders.
If I am not mistaking, Emirates also had the possibility to convert their orders into 340HGW's or even 380's ...
Any, great news for Airbus and the A340 program !

How many Worldliners has Air Canada ordered?Andries wrote:Don't count on the Air Canada planes ever being built ! They've gone 777/787.chornedsnorkack wrote:other customers with outstanding orders are Air India, Air Canada, Emirates and Eva Air - and they have no fresh orders.
Their Worldliner orders? It would be interesting if 777-200LR Worldliner orders can be converted into Airbuses...Andries wrote:

No, their outstanding A340-600 orders. If I am not mistaking, these were for the non-HGW version. I though I read somewhere they could convert those orders into 340HGW or 380's.chornedsnorkack wrote:Their Worldliner orders? Re: New A340-500!
That´s April 2005, and states that the mix of 777-300ER-s, 777-200LR-s and 777F-s in the 18 firm 777 orders was yet to be determined.Andries wrote:18 x 777's with another 18 optionschornedsnorkack wrote:How many Worldliners has Air Canada ordered?Andries wrote: Don't count on the Air Canada planes ever being built ! Has it by now (April 2006) been determined how many, if any, of those 18 would be 777-200LR-s?

from BoeingMedia :chornedsnorkack wrote:Has it by now (April 2006) been determined how many, if any, of those 18 would be 777-200LR-s?
"The airline now says it will have EFB systems installed, certified and delivered on all 18 of the 777-300ERs, 777-200LRs and 777 Freighters it will receive."
http://www.boeing.com/news/releases/200 ... 8c_nr.html
So there will be 777-200LR's, both PAX and Freighters. How many of the 18 PAX will be 200LR's or 300ER's is something I can't immediatly find ...

Kingfisher and airsub are dreaming
if they think they will be given landing rights in US for A340-500 with Rolls Royce engines. They will never get the routes, and likely these "orders" are conditional on that, so they are just more puff

Wonder what the domestic routes are that the 345-s will serve 2008-1010, and 330-s from 2007?

All the private airlines in India can't fly international for 5 years. Seems by the time, these orders will be ready, Kingfisher will be flying international.
According to a midia report, KF is engaged in talks with a US carrier to fly these planes under KF banner, incase they are not allowed to fly international by then.
A funny regulation of DGCA (Civil aviation governing body in India) that allows all foreign carrieers to fly to India any time, but Indian carriers have to wait for 5 years to fly international. 8O

US Routes will go to Air India
and it's 787 and 777
even after Kingfisher is given rights on the Indian side of the pond, they better find some routes to south America or something for those birds. Airbus has so many orders on backlog for airlines with no current fleet, clients or route structures, it will interesting to watch how these bookings pan out over the next 5-8 years.
