Euh, thanks very much; but I only could write that article since I found lots of information here on www.luchtzak.be . I have to thank all of you for bringing in bits of information to complete the whole picture.

Big planes : see this link for some ideas:http://www.aerospaceweb.org/question/design/q0188.shtml

Landplane

Post by chornedsnorkack »

Remember, An-225 is merely the largest landplane, as well as longest and heaviest plane.

Spruce Goose is bigger.

Spruce Goose is bigger.
Which flew for how many seconds??? Amazingly, most of the plane was made of wood to save on weight.

30 seconds if I remember correctly...
But it flew!

It was not made of wood to save on weight, but because there was no metal available because of WWII.

But it flew! ......
Only 24 seconds : in that short time, the plane never came above "the groundeffect". So, was the Spruce Goose really flying ?

I believe it was never ment to fly at 10 000 feet, but just fly right over the see to transport troops and material from the USA to England...

Correct me if I'm wrong though, long time since I saw 'the Aviator' :)
