BRU summer 2006: what to expect: airlines, routes, news

When we have to start a new topic I can give a little overview of the new airlines and routes for this summer.

SkyEurope Airlines

Starting 27 March with 3 flights a week using the new B737-700

Condor

Starting 1 April with a daily flight using an A320

Air Memphis

Their first flight was on 25 February but only for one weekend. With the beginning of the eastern holiday they are going to start with one flight every Saturday using an A320

Bravo Airlines

Starting in May but the flight schedule is at this moment still unknown. They are going to use a B767-200

Ethiopian Airlines

Starting 5 june with 3 flights a week using B767-300ER

Smartwings

Starting 12 June with 6 flights a week using a B737-500

Still uncertain are the flights of Hainan Airlines. They planned the first flight on 18 July with 4 flights a week with a B767-300ER.

Just a correction (I could be myself wrong !) but I think that 2 out of the 3 ET flights will be with 752ER, the third one with a 767.

About, 9W I'm rather pessimistic. I think they'll wait untill they have the ultra long range plane needed to fly non-stop to the US. But I don't know how their case moved lately with the FAA/US DOT. AA and CO are doing really well on non-stop US-India services. Loads and yields wise. I'm sure 9W will want to compete on this market rather than against AI on the one-stop strategy.

About LAC, aren't SN and Hewa the only two carriers designated to fly BRU-FIH ? That's how I read the bilateral agreement. Maybe I missed a part

About ET: the first indications were that ET had the intention to fly with the B757-200 on Tuesdays, the other days Thursday and Saturday were always with the B767-300.

After some while when it was officially announced, the Tuesday flight is also with a B767-300.

But there is still space to mix.

Bravo Airlines is flying between Brussels and Kinshasa via Madrid. In that case no problem for three carriers on that route.

About 9W, I have also my doubts for their flights via Brussels. I think, but I can be wrong, they will never come to us.
I think we have to wait after the complete merger between Jet Airways and Air Sahara. In that case Jet Airways could use the rights of Air Sahara to fly to the US.

What about Biman ?

Their schedules are still not updated... Could this mean the end for Biman ops at BRU ?

Correct, normally Biman's last flight out of BRU is for tomorrow. They announced to leave BRU by the end of this month.

So, this means one carrier and two destinations less at BRU.

I did a quick search on amadeus and according to that site there are still flights to BRU.

Three possibilities:

* Biman was not ready to set up, in that short time, flights via UK to NYC

* BIAC has not updated last week the new summer schedule, altough BG is the only carrier with no summer schedule on BIAC's site. So it could be it's the last flight tomorrow.

* Amadeus is putting those flights on the net until BG is effectively flying via UK.

I can only say that we have to keep our eyes open and see what happened.

Dhaka and Dubai are now deleted in the timetable of BIAC. So, who want to see for the last time Biman at our airport, go there he's departing at about an hour, I think.

The flights to Phuket - Colombo - Male with Martinair are now departing at 17.35H on Sundays.

Today SkyEurope made his first flight to BRU. When the flights are successful, SkyEurope will offer more flights ex-BRU to other cities in Central- and East-Europe.

As i can see there going to be a few new planes/Airliners this summer for photography.

indeed, I was wrong... I meaned 321's, they're flying four of it now, two of those are reserved for the belgian market...
any news about Inter? first flight? Saturday?
