Too bad they didn't take up service last year. At that time, the B737 wasn't acquired yet, and they were still operating the Tu-154. I'd loved to see it in regular service into BRU.

Compare: Which is the nicest:

2002: http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.cgi?119089
2003: http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.cgi?68515

Also the arrival times aren't that good for the winter season. With arrivals at 07h45 and 20h30, it is still dark or there's just very poor light. Hopefully they will continue the service until the summer season.

Kind regards, Robin Bamps.

Does somebody knows by which company Slovak Airlines will be handled? Aviapartner, BGS, Globeground?

Aviapartner will do all handling.

The winterschedule will be effective as from next sunday, so normally first flt will be monday oct 27th.

BTW, do not forget to change your watches/clocks. At 03.00lt we (bru timezone) switch to 02.00lt.

Too bad they don't use the best Russian plane ever, the TU-154. Wonderful aircraft.

They'll probably use the Tu154 sometimes :) , because they only have one 737. And even if those are very reliable, you never know

329,

if you check the entire topic first you should read that 'Slovak Airlines' has the TU154 in its fleet.

Hello,

With the EU being enlarged to 25 members next year (May 2004), I guess we should see regular airlinks to all 10 new member states'main airports appear or expand from BRU...

Think of all the employees, lobbyists, businessmen,....
That's alot of potential passengers!

What is the situation right now?
Does BRU already have flights to all 10 new members' capitals?
I don't think so, but I'm not sure...

Maybe someone could list the services already available and those planned in time for the "European big bang"?
That would be interesting.

Thank you,

VFlies

Here are the current connections between Brussels (BRU) and new EU-member capitals:

Flights are regular flights, winter season

Cyprus (CY - Cyprus Airways)
---------
Brussels - Larnaca (LCA)
Brussels - Paphos (PFO)

Czech Republic (OK - Czech Airlines & SN - SN Brussels)
------------------
Brussels - Prague (PRG)

Estonia (OV - Estonian Air & SK - SAS)
---------
no direct flights, though there are connecting flights to Tallinn (TLL) with SAS

Hungary (MA - Malev & SN - SN Brussels)
----------
Brussels - Budapest (BUD)

Latvia (BT - Air Baltic)
-------
Brussels - Riga (RIX)

Lithuania (TE - Lithuanian Airlines)
-----------
Brussels - Vilnius (VNO)

Malta (KM - Air Malta)
------
Brussels - Malta (MLA)

Poland (LO - LOT Polish & SN - SN Brussels)
--------
Brussels - Warsaw (WAW)

Slovakia (6Q - Slovak Airlines)
----------
Brussels - Bratislava (BTS)

Slovenia (JP - Adria Airways)
----------
Brussels - Ljubljana (LJU)

ps: there are also already flights from/to Bucharest (Romania) and Sofia (Bulgaria).

You see... there are already many connections to the new member states. The only thing that can happen is that carriers upgrade these flights (eg. from S20 or CRJ to 320 or 737) or they add more flights.

Thanks, JIMpc!

Very interesting information!

Maybe a next step will also see extra flights to secundary airports, especially for such a large country as Poland. They must have more than one intl gateway (Crakow, Gdansk...)
