some rumours are going around that some of the 146 aircrafts are going to operate in Africa, and that there will be an outstation with maintenance, cabin and cockpit crew...
does anyone have some more info?
or is it just a rumour?

Again only RUMOURS, but:
the idea would be to take on only part of the current Cameroon Airlines staff for the new SN owned airline, supplemented by Belgians for maintenance, pilots and cabin crew and of cource the management.
While the newly started operations are run, maintained and flown by Belgians, local cabin crew and ultimately also pilots would be trained to bring them up to acceptable standards for SN and after that, most of the Belgian 146 crews would come home and fly the RJs.
By then we are end of 2007/beginning 2008 at the very best and natural outflow at SNV will have eroded the surplus of crew from the upcoming merger between SN and VEX.
