Not as far as I know. G-OBYH departed on the Varadero-Cancun flight once again for TUB, and should return tomorrow.

What's now going on ?
I may have to dissapoint those who are eager for some spectacular plots...

OO-TUC has gone into a long scheduled C-check and is replaced by a Thomson-aircraft.
VRA-CUN flights have to be operated via the country where the aircraft is registered, just as is the case for the Thomas Cook flights (Martinair) to VRA-CUN : Brussels-Amsterdam-VRA-CUN.

The flights to Punta Cana and Puerto Plata fly directly from Brussels.

Furthermore - apart from the tight schedule - there is no more "going on".
Sure, is not pleasant for the passengers. But this does not mean one has to jump to too "easy" conclusions, such as :
Oh, it's quite easy: OO-TUC, who had already kind of engine troubles last week, came in from Hurghada early on Monday morning (Sunday night) and went into technical.
Thanks for the very clear explanation.

"VRA-CUN flights have to be operated via the country where the aircraft is registered": what's the reason for this?

Sebastien

I think TUB used a spanish Air Plus Comet plane. Now TUB 8207 flight is again EQP changed into B767 again. OO-TUC flying or Thomsonfly again?

BTW: How long does it take to do a C-check on a B767?

A little bit information about the soap opera today;

The "normal" plan was to let OO-TUC do the VRA-CUN flight today and to let the Air Plus Comet plane fly home this morning with the delay until 14hrs. Then they had more news about the release of the TUC in Shannon, Ireland that it would come to late to operate the flight. So they decided to let the Comet plane stay in BRU. Crew was taken to a hotel because they had just flown the return flight from Punta Cana. So departure was scheduled at 16.00. Then they thought again and with the crew rest hours and the extra fuel stop that had to be made in Madrid the pax would arrive in Cuba at approx the same tame as they would when they took the "good old" TUC. So they chose for the new option wich was a 18.00 departure with OO-TUC. Then news again that it would come again later than scheduled so they planned an aircraft change again to the Air Plus Comet. But that option was apparently not so good either so they finally decided to wait for the OO-TUC wich landed at about 19.30. And finally everybody was on its way after 21hrs. It's almost a television soap!

OK, I no longer can withhold the truth for you: today's chaos was planned: it was a set up for Candid Camera, and the 250 angry pax are professional actors/comedians. Only OPS and the crew (both cockpit and cabin) were kept unaware they were filmed by hidden cameras.

Arrival TUB 8208 Var - Can - BRU delayed to 18:55 (B767)

Departure TUB 8371 Bru - Pla - PUJ on time 12:55 (A313)

They decided to fly with 2 planes, decreasing the chaos of yesterday.

could be because of the weather?

Air Force 1 and Bush were in Cancun for an American-Mexican-Canadian meeting and a visit to Cichen Itza. I think this might be the reason.

OO-TUC delayed

Post by Depretair »

I saw a A330 from Corsair in the morning of the 2/04/06 at the end of the B pier. Does this plane replaced the 767 or was it something different ? Thanks for the replies.

Unfortunately i didnt check the TUB flight to Pop-PUJ this weekend! Yesterday the flight to PUJ-Mob was flown with the B767, like the flight today to Cancun. Im also curious now which plane has flown the weekend.
