Britain to buy Rafale in the future?

buy de-stealthed
Yes, that could be a good idea. Who cares what US Congressmen think, they never bother to learn what they are talking about before they spew from the mouth anyhow, look at the Dubai Ports fiasco.
I would not want my front line fighter force to have to be sent 6,000 miles to be serviced.

euro ucav
That will be inevitable. The neuron loooks like a good program. Europe is not sleeping, but trying to field good ucav. I assume there must be black programs going also. they will not miss the show like they did with Stealth
The Neuron looks a lot like the X45

And now this:
in the Netherlands, there is a big commotion with the maintenance department of KLM. The Dutch MoD wants to give the maintenance contract for the JSF to the Italian company Avio instead off the KLM subsidary.

What about Dassault? They're French. (Sorry for using an example of BELGIAN CORRUPTION once again...earthman wrote:Corruption is much more common in Italy though, so the people there are probably better trained at bribing officials. Besides, we are talking about the Dutch DoD here, not the Belgian. I just used Agusta as an example of an Italian company using bribes to get a contract.
The amount of money involved in these military purchases is so enormous, that I'm quite sure any company of whatever nationality will be only too glad to line the pockets of corrupt politicians. Only problem is to find corrupt politicians who WANT to be bribed. In some countries it's easier than in others, that's true.

Stealth is not just a computer build in the back of the plane, it is involved in every little design detail of the plane, going from design form to bomb bays and engines/exhaust pipes...regi wrote:There is an alternative:
buy de-stealthed planes and apply a european stealth system on it.
I bet that some US law makers will go berserk about that possebility as well.
And the engine may come from a european manufacturer as well.
stealth paint

I don't know the details. But as I read it, it looks as if each time a brittish pilot wants to take off with a JSF, he has to get a code to start the engine. Hm.

No, the British want the source code for the software of the JSF, so they can modify it themselves when needed.regi wrote:and today in the Times this:

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the next phase of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) programme was signed on 12 December 2006 by Minister of State for Defence Procurement, Lord Drayson, following a meeting with US Deputy Secretary of Defence, Gordon England, in Washington DC.
