New flights from BRU to Libya

Post by sn26567 »

As of today, 2 May, Afriqiah Airways (8U), a Libyan company, starts thrice-weekly flights from Tripoli, Libya (TIP) to BRU and return.

Schedule:

BRU-TIP: flight 8U 921, dep. 10:35 on days 2-4-6
TIP-BRU: flight 8U 920, arr. 21:30 on days 1-3-5

The plane is a Boeing 737-400

Spotters, be ready for a new airline at BRU !

Not really new. They had already flights to some African destinations, like Cotonou, N'Djamena, Niamey, Bamako, Khartoum, Lome, and to CDG.

Now I know why I didn't find any pictures ... The airline's name is Afriqiyah instead of Afriqiah.

Here's some pics of that airline
http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.s ... =Afriqiyah

Ooops

Sorry, I'm not an expert in Afryiqahn names

And I wasn't the only one to make mistakes. The very official website of BIAC write: Afriqyah Airways (8U)

Further information on Afriqiyah

Post by sn26567 »

Afriqiyah Airways belongs at 100% to the Government of Libya. In addition to direct flights to Tripoli, it will alsooffer connections from Brussels to Niamey, Ougadougou, Bamako, Cotonou and Lomé via Tripoli.

From next week, they will launch an advertising campaign in Belgium, hoping to promote tourism to Libya.

That's indeed great news ! And looking at the pictures on airliners.net, I must say they have a very nice colour scheme.

Hi All

Having spent a very cool, windswept couple of hours at the 25L threshold I can finally report the arrival of the Afriqiyah Airways B737-400 at 21.40 local. The aircraft is registered OE-LNH in the Blue Panorama c/s (see pic link on the earlier post). Nothing else of interest to report but if anyone wants a list I am happy to provide it.

Hey ,what about Hewa Bora Airways, have u seen it elsewhere in Europe besides BRU & LGG?
OK, they have only one Tristar "alive" on services to BRU, but it still is a very interesting sight on saturdays & sundays. Watch out 8O 8O 8O

I saw this morning on the BIAC website that the Afriqiyah plane was changed from a B737-400 to a MD83.

Airliners.net shows only B737-400 for Afriqiyah. Could they have bought a "new" plane, or are they renting one during a check of the B737?
