hi, for your information: DHL is not leaving, just shrinking!

For the moment we dont need new gates, theres still plenty of room in A and B.

In the future? Only time will tell: Replacement for DHL? Expanding Brucargo? Passengers terminal?

Someone told me that the hangars will be destroyed. Almost certain is that the Sabena buildings next to EAT (building 11, 12,... I think) is going to dissappear, aswell as old hangars 7 and 8 of Sabena Technics. EAT now has hangars 4-5-6, with 4 en 5 having the extensions.
Again, someone told me, not 100% sure of this information.
Another guy told me that the DHL building itself, next to the terminal (sorting centre, building 3 I believe) must dissappear because of the TGV station they're planning.
If they also want to remove the old gates, old terminal and the sattelite, not much is left after 2008!
Well, one gate pier has already been removed past months.

I indeed can confirm that all the DHL/EAT buildings will disappear around 2010. We will relocate to another building. No idee were it will be.

Hi A-lexander.
They are shrinking like killerwhale65 told before and the European Hub is moving to Leipzig.
Bru will become a smaller Hub.

Hi A-lexander,

The move to Leipzig has following consequences :
BRU downsizing to a regional hub (like BGY, CPH)
CGN downsizing from air-hub to road-hub (more truck-
feedings then air-feedings).

Local hubs (like NUE - Nüremberg and BER - Berlin) are closing and material will be transferred by trucks to the main delivery stations.

It's not only Belgium, also the air hub Köln will be closed and moved to Leipzig.

Some bigger depot's in Belgium are also going to closed, like Ternat.

Goodevening,

Ternat has nothing to do with the DHL HUB-problems.

DHL-Ternat used to be VGL (Van Gend & Loos) which is a domestic delivery company. The news you probably heard is the fact that there is a new construction site near Willebroek (Tisselt) where DHL Logistics (ex-Danzas) will have its new plant. This company handles logistics services for several companies and it is the DHL-Ternat department doing the same activities which will be moving to this plant. Not sure how many people will be involved but certainly not the whole company.

La Libre Belgique announced today that DHL could leave BRU much earlier than expected, because the works at Leipzig will be completes earlier too: http://www.lalibre.be/article.phtml?id= ... _id=274666

Goodevening,
DHL-board directors initially refused to negociate about a "social plan" because they thought they were "too many emotional factors" which could influence the negociations.
They refused to start talks before September 2006 but it seems they want to start the negociations earlier.
What can you make up out of this decision ?
Don't forget that DHL has an agreement on job-security which last till end of 2007 and which protects every worker against dismissal if this dismissal is due to the move of DHL Brussels to DHL Leipzig (fines and extra payments for workers).
