Never ceased to be amazed by the fact that manufacturers never show the reality of economy seating.
So, what does the latest economy seating really look like with the extra seat? :(

I love the way that they show the space. Lots of privacy for the first class and biz passengers there... Not! Equally the economy passengers get to see what delights they're missing out on!
I think some very technical composite curtians will be one the way soon...

the economy seats are the light brown things at the back. No details are shown. But it looks as economized as a B767, or even a DC-10. Come on, what did we expect, a saloon?

Hi everybody.
I think it's one of the most exiting aviation project for a long time.
I think I will love those windows,Boeing really wants to do something for the passengers in this plane. It's a deference compare to the A 380 project where it's first the economic part of the business that's important.(beside it's also very interesting project).Regards
Patrice

Hell I'd take it!! The best seat that I have had thus far was in First Class on a AA 777 from LHR-ORD. It is a single seat next to the window (3A to be specific). Man, talk about luxury, I hope the 787 will reflect at least this kind of quality!! :D

With the windows so large, in economy class, definitely you can't have 1 window/window seat... people will fight over whether to open or close the windows...:s lol~

Frame pitch

How far are the 787 frames, and windows from each other?

IIRC, Boeing 707 had 508 mm frame pitch and a window in each frame. Dc-8 had a similar frame pitch, but half the frames had no window - the other half had rather big windows, and this was a selling point.

When the airlines started shrinking the economy seat pitch, increasing number of Dc-8 passengers wound up not having a window...

So, e. g. Boeing 747 has 508 mm frames, Airbuses have 500 mm frames.

But Boeing 777 has 533 mm frames.

How big is the frame pitch of Boeing 787?

777's windows in a SQ was OK, probably because their seats are further apart (in economy) than other airlines...
But the 787, the windows from the pics looks 'significantly' larger than the planes now, and it looks 2 rows to share 1 window easily... personally i hate that! Sometimes the sun shines on you but the guy in front doesn't do anything, then sometimes you want to open it to see the views but the guy in front is asleep...

I remember flying USAir bizzclass in the eraly nineties, when they had a single midle seat up front their767's. They were the best one could get i.m.h.o.

How does the window size and spacing compare between 777 and 787?

That is: the height of the window, the width of the window, the width of blank wall between windows, and the distance between corresponding points of same window? The pitch (sum of window and wall widths) is 53 cm on 777 and, as mentioned, DC-8 had 102 cm pitch. The seating pitch can hardly be less than 70...75 cm even on no-frills planes...

I suspect those windows are shaped to just look a lot bigger than they really are, more so than in other planes. Yes they actually are bigger, but not as much as would seem from looking at this picture.

Funny...

:contract:

Am I the only one who remembers the comments from Boeing regarding the Super Guppy and Beluga and how uneconomic the use of such airplanes is?

Am I the only one who remembers that several people from a certain plant in Washington State said that having less than 4 engines (3 if they were from California, but since both groups are in the same company in the meanwhile...) is dangerous for transocean flights?

The same for FBW and carbon fibres and some more innovations?

Just for clarification: I do not want to turn this into another A vs. B threat - I do not follow any religions in this matter and I like flying Boeing - but somehow I can't get rid of this thoughts in the back of my head when I read another Boeing press release.

Regards, Bernhard
