Nice pictures there. I haven't seen any Manx stuff for a few years now. Hope to be back a MAN soon for some spotting, you can get a great egg and bacon sandwich at the spotting park too!

MAN is one of the best airports to spot those nice planes !!! I'm going there some where in August ...

In exactly two weeks I will be at MAN and this time it is the last airport to visit on our tour around Europe. As usual for the PLANE-SPOTTER.com tours the last years, a stop at MAN is MANdatory. As in September 2004 I will stay Radisson SAS Hotel at the airport - and the best part is that the room ordered is on the top floor facing the airport (you can look down on the multi storey car park level 12/13 spotter spot - and you are at the same level as the ATC tower). A spotter mobile with driver is standing by on Saturday morning, and dependent on wind direction - the best spot will be selected - be it the east or west end on the south side, Moss Lane, the Aviation Viewing Park or maybe also a quick trip over to Woodford if it is a foggy morning. But Emirates, the PLANE-SPOTTER.com crew never get anything to eat at the AVP - it's far to dangerous

If you backtrack the Old Wilmslow Road for 500 metres from the AVP entrance you end up at The Romper Public House - and this is a highly recommended spot to get something for lunch.

If you are among those many the have Google Earth installed on your PC, here you will find a Google Earth Guide showing both spotter spots and recommended places to get something to eat around MAN.

WAY OFF TOPIC!!!

Used to drink in the Romper when Boddingtons was Real Ale, and get thrown out for underage drinking. In those days it stood beside the main road. No true British spotter would waste good spotting time to go to aplace with no view of the aircraft to have his grub (food to the non-english) - better to get the aforesaid bacon and egg barm cake or sausage, liberally covered in ketchup or brown sauce. Add to this a steaming mug of good old english tea and you have a meal fit for a king, or a one way ticket to the coronary unit!!! All this and the reek of kerosene - brilliant.

[ good tip for the best spots aat the AVP - Take a disabled person and ou get front row parking so if it is pissing down (it is Northwest England after all) you don't need to get out of the car to read off the reg's]
