This is not new, it's practical the same article as months ago. We know already a year that the battle is between Zurich and BRU. The decision to come to Europe was taken months ago, that's why de chinese delegation visited BRU and Zurich to see the accommodation and after that they will take the final decision.

So, in that way we are no step further, it's just saying what we already known.

About the new flights of SkyEurope to BRU. On the new timetable and the site of SkyEurope they only mention three flights a week.
I know the first time they announced to come to BRU they had four flights.

Why this decrease before starting?

Bravo Airlines who are starting operations begin March. The only destinations outside Africa are CDG, BRU and LHR via MAD.
Have Bravo Airlines actually started operations ?
I read in "Airliner World" for april 2006 (on sale now) that they took delivery of their first aircraft - Boeing 767-219ER EC-JOZ - which arrived at Palma de Mallorca on February 1, carrying also LAC (Lignes aériennes Congolaises) titles.
The aircraft should be used on flights from Brussels, Madrid and Paris to African countries not having an own flag carrier - amongst them, the RDC.

Yep, first flight was to Kinshasa and Dakar. But this was not a commercial flight. It was with VIP's to sign contracts, etc, etc.

The really first commercial flights are starting on 1 April.

PS: The aircraft has Bravo Airlines and below LAC titels.

Just saw the news on The Standaard ... :D

:? Nevertheless, this type of (political) statements were already made several times. Let's hope it is true.

No information on the schedules?

Danny

This is indeed very good news. Now only waiting for the official statement.

It seems that 2006 will be a good year for BRU with some new long haul destinations.

Let's hope a Japanese carrier (most probably ANA) will follow that example soon !

It's also confirmed by Geert Bourgeois.

But, we have to go step by step. The story about ANA: I don't think it's for this year.

Yes they will use the B767-300ER. This is for the moment the only aircraft in their fleet who can do this job.
