BRU best airport in Europe
Moderator: Latest news team
I read again a lot of posts showing the typical Belgian sickness: Belgians cannot be proud of themselves and their achievements. With a little more self-esteem, we would have an even better airport and certainly a much larger national carrier!
This award will for sure enhance the chances of Brussels to host new airlines and link it with new destinations.

In Europe, I've recently been through Heathrow, Frankfurt, Vienna, Aberdeen, Kiev, Odessa. None of these are great airports with Heathrow being the absolute worst....by far. I hate that place.....every time, the experience gets worse.
People rave about Dubai, and though it's clean and well laid out, the trip to the gates, and worse, the journey to immigration is brutal.
My #1 airport in the world; Changi, in Singapore. No complaints.....none....well...maybe too humid...but that's it.

This time I have to agree with Andre, but with some more self-esteem creating a larger 'national' carrier...I have my doubts...

Unfortunately, since the demise of Sabena Brussels airport looks like a dead city to me.
Next week I will be of from bru to ams to bkk and will enjoy a few hours wait in ams, which I find far more superior then bru.
And indeed the long walk through terminal A is a shame to those who designed the new airport.

I'm sorry i have to say this, but BRU as best A/P in Europe
is bullshit!
First ask the pap who have to wait and miss their flts due to
the enormous ceues at the security controls.
There are solutions, but biac doesn't want to invest in this, result:
many delays for the companies and unhappy pax.
Secondly, ask the pax who were freezing in the noseloaders of the
non-shengen terminal, because because Biac doesn't feel it
necessary to heat them, but still the airlines have to pay for the
airco in them???
Thirth, Biac is proud to have a Quick-restaurant, but not even
a pharmacy???
Fourth, best A/P in europe, but not even a restaurant for the many
staff in BRU A/P???
Fifth, ever been to the A/P lately by car? It looks more like a circuit
for passing the drivers license exam rather than the entrance
of the best A/P of Europe!!!
I can give many more examples, but for me it's clear: they can show
off with "good results", but if you know BRU A/P, you know it's
not such a nice place to be aswell as pap as staff!!!

aocmember,
you seem to forget that the award was based on the opinions of hundreds of travelers. Of course there can be dissenting voices and people who are disappointed by some of the features of an airport, but the generakl feeling is that Brussels, together with Copenhagen, is the best European airport. You alone are not going to change it! In reply to your comments:

Securair has just added several new baggage scanners and is hiring 150 new controllers.First ask the pap who have to wait and miss their flts due to

How long do you stay in a noseloader? 30 seconds? Are you so sensitive?Secondly, ask the pax who were freezing in the noseloaders of the

Planned! But I've never used a pharmacy in an airport...Thirth, Biac is proud to have a Quick-restaurant, but not even

Not a passenger's concern! Employers should provide their staff either with a canteen or with meal vouchers enabling them to eat at one of the many restaurants present at the airport.Fourth, best A/P in europe, but not even a restaurant for the many

Guys, I know you guys proud ... that BRU has won the award for best Airport ... But we have to be serious!!! There are better airports in Europe like I said before, and for me BRU isn't in the top 10...
So please don't blame other people for telling their opinion ...
Many people don't think BRU is a good airport ...
Regards Tim

As I said before they must have been drunk ...Avro wrote:But it seems many more do think the contrary, otherwise BRU wouldn't have won the "contest" !!!burner737 wrote:

A few months ago when I came back from EDI in a "real airport" Schiphol they asked me to answer a few questions... About AMS and the Airports I traveled to and from ... Schiphol got the highest score
I know this isn't relevant... But ok they won the award and let's hope this airport has potential for the future and finally starts to do something for their passengers and because we're spotters --> something for the spotters !!! Because if you compare BRU with other airports ...

Ok we are Belgians so we usually lack the pride some have for their country!sn26567 wrote:I read again a lot of posts showing the typical Belgian sickness: Belgians cannot be proud of themselves and their achievements. BUT and big but I don't see how it could share the crown with Copenhagen as the best airport in Europe:
-If I wanted to go on a tax-free shopping spree I would definately be dissapointed!
-Food? Not that much choice really since the 2 terminals are not even linked together
-Atmosphere? Empty god the A pier is nearly as scary in the evenings as some dodgy roads in Brussels.
-Fast and efficient? Lovely queues at the B pier, and what a hassle to get to terminal A!
So yeah I'm Belgian not proud of my country but certainly not blind!
Btw: How would this wonderful result for BRU bring in more airlines and passengers? Should LHR which must be very badly rated then lose all its traffic? Hello wake up it is business opportunities that count not reputation!
André, you have 100% right.
It's really, really strange if you read those posts and compare the reactions of those members when you read articles about our airport in the past. Speaking about contradiction.
One example when it goes about the actiongroups and the airport: compare this and find out how stupid this all is.
Given critics is very easy but give an example to made our airport better, none of them did it.
The fact is, if you liked it or not, that BRU and CPH are the best airports in Europe, chosen by pax and formed by an international company.
But you can see it also from this side; our airport is not 100%, but since Macquarie Airports took over it's going the right direction. Without them our airport didn't excist at this moment.
This is an extra stimulation to do it better and better. Don't forget that Macquarie is pumping every year 50 million euro's in this airport to make it better.

sn26567, first of all, as an admistrator it would be wise to be
just a little bit more objective...
As a reply to your (not very smart) remarks:
"Securair has just added several new baggage scanners and is hiring 150 new controllers"
Only 1 scanner in B-pier and clearely not enough, which still leave us with
huge qeues at rush-hours.
"How long do you stay in a noseloader? 30 seconds? Are you so sensitive?"
Not me, but maybe pax with baby's, who have to wait for strolleys at arr, wchr pax waiting for assistance maybe?
"Planned! But I've never used a pharmacy in an airport..."
Planned for years already and you were lucky not having become sick in transit in BRU, or just think about pax with sick children in transit!
"Not a passenger's concern! Employers should provide their staff either with a canteen or with meal vouchers enabling them to eat at one of the many restaurants present at the airport."
You must earn a lot of money, considdering the prices in the Airport. And
do you think that employers with 1 or two employees in the A/P will provide them with a restaurant?
"That's to make BRU even better in a few weeks!"
Clearly you know nothing about the situation, because, according to Biac the present route to enter the A/P is final.
1 good advice: think before you reply, even more as an administrator instead of simply attacking without knowing the first thing about something...
just a little bit more objective...
