Is there any news about Hainan Airlines? I was reading on A.net a few days ago that they indeed want to fly to Boston. But at this moment they don't have the equipment for that. Only the B767-300ER but that have to make a fuel stop.
Some American carriers are flying now to China, when could we expect the next Chinese to America?

Some years ago Royal Jordanian was flying on BRU with an A310. What was the reason for stopping that route?
I saw this evening a small story about Jordanian and their touristic business. They are going to attract again more tourists to their country.

If we look at the timetable for the route LHR - BRU and back we see and we know that there are al ot of flights every day with a huge loadfactor. I know that BA a few years ago flew with a B767 to BRU. On this route there is also a lot of codesharing.
My question about this is why they are not using bigger metal on this route, like again the B767? I read on A. net that KL will use their new A330 for the route AMS - LHR.

There are indeed a lot of flights between BRU and LHR (on weekdays, we have BA 8x daily and BD 7x daily).
However, I don't know whether the loadfactor is as high as you claim. BRU-LHR-BRU is my most flown route, and a lot of flights I've been on till now have been on the empty side (last time was last Wednesday 01 March: barely 80 passengers on the A321. The return was about
80 % full however).
BMI will cancel an afternoon rotation between LHR and BRU during the summer season, due to low demand.
By the way, I counted the number of passengers boarding the BMI flight to LHR last Wednesday (it was the first flight of the day, mostly with lot's of connecting passengers, so it should have been a peaktime flight): about 35 passengers boarded the A319.
Last summer, I was on a BMI A319 LHR-BRU with barely 30 passengers. A few weeks earlier, I was rebooked on a BD A320 with both the passengers of that flight, and the passengers of an earlier cancelled flight on board. Even with "two flights in one", the plane barely had a 50 % load.
Of course, there's a big difference between loadfactors and yield. But when you know that BD is currently offering BRU-LHR for 1 EUR + taks, I don't think that they are making much money...
BA of course has the high yielding connecting traffic, flying Club Europe or Club World.
EDIT: I forgot to add that a lot of BA B763's that were previously put on the European network, have now been configured to the International cabin (with a Club World, World Traveller Plus and World Traveller lay-out).
So: less B763's around in Europe...
This has mainly to do with cargo I believe. KL has one daily B763 flight to LHR at the moment (one of the early morning AMS-LHR flights), and now that more and more B763's are leaving the KL-fleet, the A332 will take over the B763-flight three times a week (starting in a few weeks).Atlantis wrote:I read on A. net that KL will use their new A330 for the route AMS - LHR

I give here a little overview of some highlights:
Addis Abeba
Ethiopian Airlines: Day 2 - 4 - 6
All three days are with the B767-300.
Arr BRU: 07.55h
Dep BRU: 21.15h
As you can see this timetable is different then the first I gave. Also no B757.
Abu Dhabi
At this moment no increase of flights. There is only a little change in the hours of arriving and departing. There is also a codesharing with Royal Air Maroc.
Arr BRU: 18.25h
Dep BRU: 14.25h
Algeria
Using bigger metal: from 25.06 till 23.09 we are going to see their A330-200 on day 5. The other days they are going to use the B737-800
Casablanca
Royal Air Maroc will again use the B747-400 on day 1 from 26.06 till 11.09
Montreal
Air Transat start their seasonal flights from 12.04 and are using their A310-300.
Athens
Olympic Airlines will use on day 2 a B717
Also the new flights to Krakow are loaded.

I have no accurate data available on how BRU-LHR traffic has been developing recently, but I understand that this route has been severely affected by Eurostar. I believe Eurostar is (or has been) continuously improving their market share on Brussels-London. Currently they have +40% of the market.BRU-LHR-BRU is my most flown route, and a lot of flights I've been on till now have been on the empty side
Speculation: Perhaps it is not completely unimaginable that one day (soon or later) one of the players (BD rather than BA) may pull out of BRU-LHR route. 8O Ultimately those precious LHR slots may rather get dedicated to high yield long haul traffic, than being used for some low(er) yield flights carrying just a few dozen passengers.
How to understand this codesharing between RAM and EY on BRU-AUH?There is also a codesharing with Royal Air Maroc.
Are any RAM flights (between BRU and Morocco) connecting with the EY flights AUH-BRU-YYZ?

Further I also noticed that Finnair will use its brandnew Embraer 170
on some days to BRU.
Furthermore I saw that SAS will upgrade its SK1594 flight to an A321
from monday till friday, instead of only on wednesday and friday.
Tunisair will use its A300 on the Tunis- Brussels route.

Hainan will choose between Zürich en Brussels to start
direct flights from Peking. The negotiations are in the last stage

Nice, perhaps we can see OO-SLS (B763ER, c/n 30566/817) back. I last saw her in Hainan colours at 29/07/2004 when she was taxiing back to SN technics...
