Boeing 737 flies without nav aids for 4 hours in Indonesia

Post by killerwhale65 »

A Boeing 737-300 from Adam Air flew for 4 hours without any navigational or communications systems. Eventually it managed to make an emergency landing on a runway 400m (1320ft) too short.

The airplane, en route from Jakarta to Makassar, lost all systems last Saturday 20 minutes after take-off. The pilot kept the heading initially set and continued this heading for 4 hours before the first airfield came in sight.

On board were 145 passengers. They described the landing as being like a sports car stopping. Nobody got injured.

My respect to the pilot and crew. ¿What was the cause?

Hell yeah!!!! Pilots going back to their roots, flying VFR!!!! :kvole:
I'm surprised they still remembered how to fly the plane visually. Indeed the crew did an amazing job, my hat's off to them.
