It will not arrive in 12 days - it will be chosen in 12 days (which airline it will come from)JAT_boy_BEG wrote:Serbia Montenegro is still in category 2 and that was from January 13th this year, so lets see what will happen. We still have 4 months till the launch date of the flights, and 12 days till the first B762 will supposedly arrive.

i really hope it does work out. Well if they can't fly out to the U.S, the next option for them can be for China and south-east asia, PEK, BKK, SIN, KUL the destinations they had back 16 years ago.

They can’t because if you are in cat. 2 to get to cat. 1 it is far better to have a US aircraft on route. If SCG was on cat. 1 there would be no problem for them to use the A330. But Jat has great relations with Boeing so I think they would have chose a Boeing aircraft anyway.JAT_boy_BEG wrote:i hope SiCG is chanced to a category 1. But i still reckon they should have gone with the A332.

For 2005, Jat Airways CEO Nebojsa Starcevic has reported that the company has had a loss of almost 2 billion dinars (EUR 20 million, or US$24.5 million). He has also mentioned that 2006 will be the make-or-break year for the struggling carrier. It is either the rebirth of JAT or we will have to shut down the airline.

I think the loss comes due to the strikes early in the year. JAT were forced to cancel flights, and they had lost flights and destinations as a result. I know that the lost flights have been returned, but the lost destinations are yet to be regained. Trieste was brought back, and yet Banja Luka has not been confirmed by JAT, and yet they talk of opening Zagreb in April, and Bucharest, Sofia and a destination along the Adriatic in Croatia, for their N/American flights. I am assuming that Banja Luka will be returned for the trans-atlantic flights.

I can confirm that Pula Airport is working with JAT on re-opening of regular traffic between two cities.
But Zagreb and Dubrovnik are still only in JAT plans because both these airports are demanding unpaid money from the end of 80s from JAT and don't want to give JAT a permit to fly to them until they get owed money.

I also want to see them not just open Pula, but Portorodz. Does Portorodz recive regular flights like JAT had once provided them?Aerocroatia wrote:I can confirm that Pula Airport is working with JAT on re-opening of regular traffic between two cities.

it is a shame that JAT is in troubles with Croatian Airports, as there is potential for JAT to open Zagreb, and not just JAT but Croatia Airlines too. But didn't OU fly to BEG, but while they were Zagal?
This year i am sure they will make a profit, and will begin paying debts. I am sure JAT and the Croatian Airports can bring on a deal for the relaunching of flights to Croatia.

I don't think that there will be Jat flights to Portoroz. Portoroz is bad old equiped airport and I thnik it is not usefull for regular international traffic. On the other side Jat destinations as Trieste and further Pula are too close to Portoroz.
ZAGAL was flying to Belgrade only with cargo, as far as I know never with passangers.

Portoroz would be ideally suited for ATR or Dash8 operations!
Jat owns ATR as well as Croatian Airlines.
The catchment area of Portoroz is more important than one could think at first sight: Portoroz itself, Izola, wonderful Piran, Koper, Umag (HR), estrn part of Trieste (I) (don't forget: Roncchi airport is far from town Trieste), the whole Slovenian karst region It should be enough for 66 seater operations!

There are still no signs of Beirut coming back. Any updates on this?JAT_boy_BEG wrote:during the summer months, JAT will restart the Cairo, Hurghada, Beirut, Damascus and Monastir flights which is most likely to connect to the N/A flights. Yes Beirut will be in the summer timetable with Damascus as well.MEA707 wrote:There are still no signs of Beirut coming back. It is a shame that Portorodz cannot be modernised and upgraded for B733's and A320 flights. It could become a low cost carrier airport like LTN, but not that big.
I think if Pula is opened than other Croatian destination will be opened at a later date, when JAT can fix up their mess.
Croatia Airlines should also consider Tivat as a destination too.
Also, Budva Airport could be another possibility.....

The only problem is that Budva doesn’t have the facilities but Tivat would be definitely a good idea.JAT_boy_BEG wrote:It is a shame that Portorodz cannot be modernised and upgraded for B733's and A320 flights. It could become a low cost carrier airport like LTN, but not that big.

The airport for Budva IS Tivat!
The only problem with TIV airport is that the approach can ONLY be done by full visibility: that will remain so because of the neighbourhood of hills in the approach and a theoretical glidepath axed on the runway!
Nowadays, the aircrafts landing in TIV make a slight turn to the left in short final!
As for Portoroz, I believe that it could better remain exempted of B737 and A319/320, because that would require extension of runway in a particularly interesting "wet-landscape" which is about (or is already) to be protected.
But it could easily accept ATR, Dash8, BAE146?Avro, and future An-148, just like Brac.

no, Budva and TIV are too different airports which have two different IATA codes:
QBA - Budva
TIV - Tivat
Also, the new summer timetable is out and JAT is getting CRJ's i think it was.
I still have no confirmation on if JAT has their B762ER's that they were looking for, but have heard that they have been looking in Middle East for B762ER's.
