Spotting at CDG is over...

Post by ThreeForty »

Hello, I copy here a message from KeroZen's president :

Hello,

I have a terrible news. Taking pictures from outside the airport is now
strictly forbidden. A new law is now in force for CDG and LBG.

Taking pictures of anything inside the restricted area from outside is
prohibited. An amend of 350 euros is the price if someone is caught by
policemen.

Please advise the fellowship of spotters.

For the moment, we discuss to see what we have to do.

Stephane, president of Kerozen.

For french speaking spotters, you can read the law here : http://www.foxalpha.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8267 third page (ARRETE POLICE CDG 05-4979.pdf, page 35, TITRE VIII - POLICE GENERALE, alinea 5)

Good night...

It will be interesting to see how the Gendarmes interpret this law when the next Paris Air Show takes place and spotters descend upon CDG from everywhere, particularly the UK and NL. On my last visit to "the mound" in June there must have been close to 100 photograhers there. Guess they'll need to buy bigger buses to transport those arrested to the station to be processed!

I think this time it is serious.
I've been following this item since a few days on Kerozen's mailing list. The arrest states that it is forbidden to take pictures from outside to the inside of the airport. Nothing is mentioned about photographing the airplanes in the air. I think this will be in the future the only (legal) way to take photographs in CDG, unless the 'gendarmerie' interprets this law in a stricter way...

Taking pictures of planes on the airport are, like the law states, forbidden. But does that mean just taking pics of (for example during approach) only the plane, is also forbidden?

This effects only taking pictures. So when you're only interested in writing the reg numbers there wouldn't be a problem?
