Planes switch from APP to TWR when they are on the localizer, which is mostly of the time, like you said, around 7 - 10nM (depending on the traffic).

Hey Yannick,

Thanks for your GREAT report of the New Control Tower!! 8) :D

Just a few questions and remarks:

Navigation from the borders is initially indeed done by Brussels Control/CANAC.
-A screen wich shows the next coming expected start-ups/Departures/Arrivals within a certain time and all the needed info.
==> GOD, I would like to see some pictures of this system !!! Already waiting years for this 8O

There's no nuclear facility so close to an international airport  , what you saw is the Drogenbos Steam and Gas Turbine central, but the cooling tower indeed looks like a nuclear cooling tower.

Hello

Thanks for the pleasant replies! :D It even makes the visit and the effort of the post even more worth. Thanks.

Nice new pics Ivan...unfortunately I'll have to wait a wile to open the movie on another computer , can't hear sound so...guess it's the sound video? Or is it the SQ Cargo Departure? :D

Thanks for the Correction Sebas.

Well I really like it that you enjoy the comment so much. Was already fearing that no-one would be interested. Guessed wrong than? :D

Well I've taken some pics of it with my (analog) cam , but since it was dark and I had to use the flash , I hope the pics will be a little good. So if they are good , I will certainly make an exception to try to upload the pics in the topic. But unfortunately it want be for really soon. The film is not yet up :D (some 22more foto's on it :D). But if I got them and they are good I will certainly try to upload them (and together with that all old pics from me of airplanes) in a album. ;)

Best regards: Yannick ;)

Very nice video, I wish I was in you're place!

We were planned to visit the tower last year with our class, but at the last moment, our teacher canceled the visit and changed it to a visit of BARCO. It was terrible boring.

Hello

Nice video Ivan! ;)

You cheater...weren't you filming the camera? :d:D Haha...I see it is reversed sight...:D

Can't blame you , after all he REFUSED to come over 'W4' , so he was a little too far for that :(

After all great ...:D

Well...if you see the traffic overhere , you wont be so jealous anymore I guess :D:d haha , lol , and I guess it must have about the same size like 'Licenciando' or maybe a little smaller...but I do admit , in the summer when the grass is nice and green I really like the image of THAT. But after all I've learned to accept the good and bad points of our little airport. And I think I can't REALLY complain. I've fun when I'm spotting , and you always see a new plane or a plane with a new reg or something like that...and isn't having fun also where it's about? :D

Best regards: Yannick ;)
