With this topic I want to start a debate about aircraftnoise not only at BRU but also in our neighbour countries.
The next one with problems is AMS. This week, a commission who investigate the noise at and around AMS, gave their opinions.
A lot more people then expected are "victim" of aircraft noise. The commission wants a lot more modern aircrafts at AMS. Also the nightoperations are under fire. They have to be decreased.
The communities are strenghten the bands against the airport. Like here at BRU.
Not only the airport but also the cargoholdings are worried. Cargo is very important for the airport. The competition is very hard and with some problems cargo-airlines will moved away from AMS.
One of the suggestions of the commission is to move some charter-operations to regional airports. But Rotterdam airport says today that they don't want charterflights. The airport reached already the maximum of noise with the current operations.
To be continued.

A very interesting article from British Airways regarding noise control, and some procedures and equipment used to reduce it.

I totally agree, I think those people have totally no reason to complain, they chosed it theirself to go living there. First there was the airport, then came the people and now those people are complaning about noise. when they where building their home (which take at least a year or so) they could already withness how it was to live next to an airport. We shouldn't listen to their complains.

Excuse me, but when I recently got my new job in Brussels airport, I could not find any appartment for rent at a reasonable price: I think it is way more expensive around the airport than in the city of Brussels. The cheapest I visited was 550 EUR for a small unfournished studio on 16m²!!!All energetical charges excluded....
I finally decided to buy a car and to commute from Antwerp...
It is true that sometimes noise might waste your good mood. Why not create a central european airport for cargo operations only?
Setting such a structure in Germany or France should be very environment friendly and convenient! Highways might become more smooth avoiding trucks to travel from all the directions to all destinations, concentrating them to move to and from this central hub airport!Having a harbour in the vicinity would be perfect!
