I pass my round
I have not a lot of time these days. I'm back in Delft and the exams start on monday. So just ask another question Koen.

Thx Avro, good luck with your exams.
Here is an other question:
Part A:
How many liters of paint and thinner (read thinner +paint) was used to give the Martinair 767 fleet a brand new paintscheme?
Part B:
Which was the first aircraft to receive the new designed paintscheme?

Just a little note: the number of liters is only for 1 Boeing 767.
Just try and guess, I don't think you will find it on the internet.

All I know about airplane painting is that the paint on a 747 ways about as much as a horse.

the first B767 that recieved the new c/s was PH-MCI "Prins Pieter-Christiaan" on 17th November 2004 @ AMS
give me a bit of time and I might find a number for the paint
but just as Avro I'm in the middle of exams...

It's a lot more (thinner + paint)!
Tomorrow evening after my late shift (around 23h LT), I will give the correct answers.
I didn't found the answers on the internet, but in a magazine of a company specialized in aerospace coatings.

don't know about a 767, but years ago I was told that flying tigers had a payload increase of 5000lbs because the a/c only had a few stripes of paint on the fuselage of their 747's

Those are huge amounts of paint and other substances!!
Ok here is my question:
On several planes you can see small devices attached to the wing:
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/975837/L/
- What are those devices called ?
- What's the purpose of installing them?
And subsidary: What does their height tell you about the Boundary Layer of the flow.
