Options to go to Santiago (Chili)?

Post by DannyVDB »

Hi all,

I might go to Santiago de Chile in November this year. :P

Does anyone know which options I have and any experience?

Appreciate all the inputs/suggestions ...

Possible options:

Iberia & LAN:
BRU-MAD-SCL (A343)

Lufthansa:
BRU-FRA-SCL (A346)

Don't have experience with LAN or Iberia. Lufthansa is OK on longhaul (flew them FRA-DEN-FRA).
From what I've heard the A346's are nice to fly with, even in Y.
They carry you on time from A to B without to much frills.

Prices are attractive if you:
a) book a lot in advance
b) wait for promotions (wich is risky imo)

If you book via MAD, trie to get on the LAN operated flight, LAN is a looooot better than Iberia

I agree, preferred option is LAN for quality and, usually, price (except if other is preferred because of miles).

LAN actually departs from FRA with a stop in MAD, then is direct.

With LH: FRA-SCL with a stop in SAO.

IB flies direct MAD-SCL.

Hi,

I'm flying to SCL from BRU next wednesday on DL. I've flown to SCL with BA, LH, IB and DL and i must say that i'm very satisfied with Delta. Iberia is a no go, the only thing good about them is that you have a good connection in MAD and their competitive price.
DL is actually cheaper but you have a long transit in ATL, yet to me that only makes the travel experience more fun. Next week i'm even flying trough JFK, just because i love to do as many flights as possible and hang around at airports :-)

Just like me! I like to do as many stops as possible, so i visit the lounges and make even more miles!

Danny, take also a look at Air Madrid and Air Plus Comet. They have sometimes very competitive prices out of Madrid. The stretch BRU-MAD can be flown by Vueling or IB since this is not the expensive part of the trip.
Got tickets for my brother in law out of LIM to MAD vv for € 549,- (Air Madrid) and MAD-AMS vv for € 90,- (Vueling) all tax. etc incl.
It's worth to take a look at it!

Had to book a trip for my sister and thought about posting her trip here as well.

Consider AF, as they have direct flights from CDG onboard there 772's. Fares aren't very expensive, about € 1050 all taxes included (for less than € 1000 it's getting very hard to get in scl from bru).

You have to take the Thalys from BRU to CDG, but you ride in AF's proper 1st class wagon i think? and you get your boarding passes in Brussels south station, i think you can even hand off your luggage over there and they'll get it from the train to the plane...

greetz, and let us know which flight you've chosen :-)

The cheapest way to fly is Air Madrid

Air Madrid:

MAD -SCL : 737.37 EUR (Taxes and fee included)

And for the leg BRU - MAD choice enough.
If you book enough in advance you can fly cheap with IB , VY , SN or VEX.

Iberia

BRU - MAD -SCL : 1,159.52 EUR ( Taxes and feed included)
You have the choice to fly between LAN and IB for the MAD - SCL leg.

Right Airbuske

The cheapest way to fly VIA ESPAÑA is Air Madrid ....
VIA MAD or BCN

IB vv LAN

no doubt LAN
IB A340-300... NO PTV...

LAN A340-300... PTV... BETTER Y CABIN SERVICE.(via FRA, only mad stop)
if your final destination is not SCL YOU CAN GET BEST PRICES IF YOUR FLY LAN..
