SNBA Avro's, will they soon be replaced?
:cool2: is it true that the sn avros are goin soon and wat will replace them??
AFAIK the Avro's are here to stay for another couple of years.
The leasing rates are very cheap and even if the operating costs are maybe slightly higher (I'm not aware of correct figures) they are certainly less expensive then newer planes such as the ERJ170 for instance.
I would say we first need to wait for the new business plan of the company and see how VEX and SN will work together in the future. When that is settled they can look for new planes, but it will certainly not be before 3-4 years IMHO.

@SN_fan
People can prefer bigger airplanes which might offer them more space and comfort, but on the other hand, the airline company (SN) has to try to sell all those seats! As you might know: an empty seat on a flight is a loss forever which cannot be recovered by any other way.
As SN struggles with a loadfactor of 65% on average (this figure is probably an average of all averages AR8, 319, 333), it seems me rather stupid to use bigger aircrafts 'cause they will bring down the loadfactor and, most important, the flight revenue!

I'm curious too about your source which told you the replacement of the Avro's... This reminds me that this subject has already been discussed some time ago, isn't it?

hmmm ... flashback comming up ...realplaneshaveprops wrote:The leasingcontracts are renewed for 5 years
So within 2 or 3 years, a discission should be made about a replacement.

Some time ago (I think it's like 3 years or maybe even less) the discussion about the Avro-replacement was hot here on Luchtzak ... and then eventually SNBA simply extended the lease of the Avro's. To be quite honest, I wouldn't be surprised if they extended the lease for another 5 years meaning they will only replace is 7 to 8 years from now ...
Greetz,
Don't dream your life, live your dream !!!
Hi,
I think that the AVRO's will stay indeed for some more time ... as a frequent user I do not mind at all (more space than for a passenger than on the 737's from VEX - although you buy additional space on their flights) ...
That said I wonder if they
- could not (wet)lease two or three smaller planes like SN did before (it was done by a Dutch company if I am not wrong) to fly to less dense routes and to replace AVRO's on some important routes during the day (SNBA stopped offering dayservices to some destinations because there is/was not enough traffic)
- use larger planes during piek-hours - this could be covered by VEX planes and therefore further integration SNBA/VEX, not?
- and of course the fourth A330 would be a good option as was discussed in another topic before
