Thanks Tony!

Any idea where N811AX will be coming from? I can see it perhaps if it's coming from the UK...

Thanks for the info T. I'll try to be there for the DC8

BTW does some one know on which runway it should land ? 25L or R ? I'd suppose R but I ask since most of the time the DHL's land on L....

The DC-8 is flying under a DHL international flightnumber (DHL). So probably it will be flying for DHL.

I would bet on 25R...

Can someone explain the codes used please?
I understand these are the navigation radio stations used to guide the plane to Brussels. I presume KOK is Koksijde, but what is KERKY?
What other stations are used and how can you get the list of navigation stations used for a specific flight?

Thanks on beforehand.

ABX is the DHL flight code

KERKY is a waypoint near Aalst (Nieuwerkerke)
KOK is a DVOR navigationstation in Koksijde

KILN AIRBORNE AIRPARK WILMINGTON Ohio

For the moment, RWY 02 is in use. Maybe that explains why you've missed it Fred, although it would rather suprise me as the STAR of RWY 02 for inbound from London FIR is also using KERKY (Routing KOK KERKY AFI NIVOR HUL RWY 02)

Did it land already? I'm on a hunt (contrails and 02-landings), but I had to go eat during the past 20 minutes...

Hi Jense,

Well no, I was studying and was so concentrated that I totally forgot to have a look at the DC-8 ;). That's why I missed it.

I can see 02 arrivals but it's slightly more difficult as they turn right 90° before KERKY, which is about 45-60 seconds before they pass in front of my house.

Some good traffic today:
N811AX DC8-60 ABX Air
5X-BON DC10 DAS Air Cargo
PH-MCL B763 Martinair
YL-RAD An26 Raf-Avia
F-GIXR B733F Europe Airpost (all white)
TC-JM? A321 Turkish Airlines

The SAS-flight that landed a couple of minutes ago, is operated by a A321. I don't know of this is already common in BRU. Someone has the reg of that plane, please?

Still to come:
SE-RCR B733 Flyme

An incomplete but the most complete list on the net:

http://www.fallingrain.com/world/BE/waypoints.html

The 2 and 3-character idents (OO, KOK, COA, ONO, ...) are physical radio stations (VOR or NDB). The ones with 3 characters are more powerful than those with 2 characters (which are generally used for airport approach only)

The 5-character idents (DENUT, KERKY, ...) are fixes of coordinates, there is no radio installation on those points.

The idents with numbers in it are generally used in flight management computers as part of approach procedures, don't expect to hear those during atc-aircraft communication.

Sebas

Good evening everybody,

Instead of studying I decided to spend the morning in Brussels. 2.5 hours in the freezing cold ;)

I managed to take a picture of the ABX DC8 :)
