Does anyone know about upgrades of existing routes with larger planes?

Will Ethiad come with their B777-300?

About Etihad we have to wait a little more. They served BRU and YYZ just two months.

But what about the american carriers? There was a rumour about a second flight of CO. Any news about that? And other american carriers who will fly with bigger metal to Europe.

According to Vueling itselfs they will increase the number of the new flights from BRU to MAD in the next coming months.

Also important they will increase the total numbers of flights the next coming months: bcn, vlc and mad. BRU will be one of the most important airports on their network.

Very nice what you are telling :)

But maybe they should make some more advertising like they
do in Barcelona.

Hey Airbuske

Well, that sounds like a very good idea! I liked the advertisements of Vueling at BCN very much: the banners hanging on the fences!

But you know... advertisment costs money and probably it's quite expensive at Brussels... But hey, on the other hand, they can try to attract customers by advertising in the big Belgian cities: bus shelters, big posters, newspapers ...

I'm sure this will have a very positive effect on their pax numbers.

PS: We, students of Tourism- and Recreation Management have helped Vueling a little bit by writing several papers about them.

@fostro

Indeed when I was in BCN I saw a lot of advertising
but in Belgium I never saw an ad , maybe one in the free Metro , is this
possible ?

@Fostro,

Very good news indeed. It was indeed also a question of the travel agencies to increase the number of flights.

I don't think Etihad will be coming with an 777, that's too big a plane.

However, it could be that the route to Toronto will be spread out with direct flights ex AUH to YYZ (using A340) so that the flight to BRU would have much more seats for Belgian pax (now flight coming from YYZ is filled with low paying eco pax to Abu Dhabi, making it difficult for Belgians to obtain good fares and seats)

In that way Etihad could use an A340 on the route AUH - BRU - YYZ. Why would they split the route? The Belgian biz pax and tourists can take advantage of that increase of capacity.

Let's wait the decision of Etihad itselfs about the increasing.

I have a question about a "possible" direct link between AUH and YYZ Could Etihad simply drop SNBA in this codeshare? And what about the rights Etihad used of SNBA to fly to Canada. Because it's SNBA who fill the plane from BRU to YYZ.

There is a change that EK wants to start service between Dubai and Toronto. This is a big competitor for Etihad if you know that Etihad/SNBA used a bus service between Dubai and Abu Dhabi to catch the flight AUH-BRU-YYZ.

Hello this is the first post of me on this website. According to the "Thomas Cook Summer 2006 Brochure" Thomas Cook Airlines will also fly to Tivat (TIV) in Montenegro starting from 5 may. Don't know if someone has posted this before.
Greetings,

I have some serious questions about this year and the coming years about BRU.

We all know the problems at SNBA and Virgin and their very low 40% marketshare at BRU. If we compare, it's almost impossible but still, with Schiphol and the marketshare of 60 - 65% of Air France-KLM, then the picture is very clear.

But this hits also BIAC, a marketplayer with only 40% can not give huge pax numbers over a year. So, BIAC has to look, and they are looking at this moment, to attract more airlines to BRU. I'm wondering if they can bring this year Hainan and ANA to BRU.
This year BRU received more then 16.100.000 pax, but that number will not increase if they don't attract more players. If not, BRU will be doomed to the regional airport of Europe. I don't think that Macquarie Airports will be satisfy with that results. The only thing what matter is: profit, high pax numbers and high cargo volume.
At this moment only two new airlines will come to BRU: Air Wales and Skyeurope.

Luckily SNBA and VEX are aware of these low marketshares and are going to react... its gonna be an interesting 2006
