Nop, the 773 is longer:
B747-400ER overall lenght: 242 ft (73.9 m)
B777-300ER overall lenght: 231 ft (70.6 m)

EDIT: source: boeing.com

Maybe it's because I had maths exam today, but as far as I know 70 meters is shorter than 73 and not reversed...

I guess you passed maths

So, no problem for the B777-300 to stand at Brucargo

Before I posted my post with the question to Jean, I checked the lenght of the two aircrafts: B747 and the B777. There is for the moment no aircraft who is longer then the B747 except the A380, although he is 90 cm shorter

That's why I was surprised to read the post of Jean, I wait for his reply.

It's maybe not the length of the plane which matters. The turn radius of the B777-300ER might be larger than the one of the B744. And if the taxiways don't permit it the plane cannot come to Brucargo. Just a guess though

But with the visit of Bush earlier this year, the journalists came with a B777-200 (I think it was a -200) of United and that aircraft was parked at Brucargo.

The 777-300(ER) (73,9m) is just too long to stand at the cargoapron. A 747-400 (70,6m) can just park between the lines at the cargo.
The only stand that's can be used for this kind of aircraft is 303R, at the Satellite. The same problem with the A340-600, only 303R.
Parallel with the building isn't allowed anymore, even the An-124 has to be parked nose-in. Only during strong winds it will be allowed due to the safety.

EDIT:
BTW: the 747-400ER and the 747-400 have the length: 70,6 m. Not like mentioned somewhere above that the 747-400ER is 73,9 m

As has been corrected by others :)

The 777-300 is too long, no airplane can pass by behind it, when it would be parked at the Brucargo. Only at the old terminal, 303, we might expect it.

Now, my colleagues guess there is an 80% procent chance he will be passing via Brussels tonight, i will know this info as around 18 or 19. Will try to post a message then because i will for sure come back from home to check out our lovely bird :)

For all who don't know EVA AIR (code BR): we are a Taiwanese carrier (rather young, from '91 on in service) , flying to VIE, AMS, CDG, and LHR with passenger flights (777 , 747 and A330). Additional 6 flights a week with cargo MD11 to BRU. We fly in Asia, Australia, Europe, New Zealand and to the United States. More info on evaair.com ;) ;)

Hey Jean,

Don't forget to take a camera with you to share this moment with those of us who aren't in Belgium ;)

BTW do you think the fuel problem might last for some more days ? I'm coming back inBelgium next week. is there a chance to see that B777 again ?

Hey Chris,

You be sure that i will do all possible to have some decent pictures taken (my camera is not professional so it might be disappointing to some...)

But the big question is WHETHER he will pass by or not!

Oh, for next week ? no idea, it all depends on the status of LHR fuel supply.

let's keep our fingers crossed, wanna get into that cockpit, you be sure!

We will have to cross harder ; ) As i just heard they are offloading all cargo in LHR to lighten the airplanes total weight! So they want the 777 to go directly to BKK, all depends on the load factor of the plane with passengers. If then the calculation says they can not have enough fuel with a full plane of pax, he might stop here

But chances are again getting slimmer grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

stop giving me hope, LHR!

So we can say by, by B777 as a possible cargo airplane for the future at Brucargo. Unless they put them at the corner of the former staff parking. That space will be free for the expanding of Brucargo.

Note there are plans to re-design the cargo platform.
The plans are to "move" the platform towards 25r/07l with some meters (so less grass and more concrete), but I don't know as this will be enough to accomodate a 777. This might just be enough to comply with the strict safety/security regulations

As a side note I just want to mention thet the B777 freighter version is less long than the B777-300ER.

It seems that some of you have some doubts of the Freighter to be able to come to BRU since the -300ER isn't able to go to Brucargo.

--> length of freighter: 63.7m

While the B744F is 70.6m

Conclusion. No need to worry. The B777F is able to go to Brucargo. ;)

Why is it no longer allowed to park parallel with the building?

Is it because of a lack of parking space? The Brucargo tarmac can be quite busy during some moments of the day, however I would believe that there are also longer periods throughout the day when parking shortage at Brucargo should not be an issue.

Or perhaps it is because of ground safety concerns? Perhaps there may be greater risks for having a collision between ground equipment and the aircraft, if the latter is parked parallel with the building. Has there been an incident (locally or abroad) that has led to a change in parking policy?

Thank you.
