The Belgian government approves the purchase of ten NH90 helicopters
As agreed on last July (see BAHA news of June 15th & 19th and July 20th, 2005), the Belgian government has approved the purchase of ten NH90 multirole support helicopters through an international cooperation procedure with the NATO Helicopter Management Organisation (NAHEMO). This helicopter replacement programme would include three helicopters for the replacement of the current Seaking fleet (see BAHA News of January 18th, 2005), two helicopters for the replacement of the Alouette III of the Heliflight and a batch of five helicopters to provide the Land Component a better aeromobility capability. The contract value of this programme is estimated at about € 320 million. Belgium will be the 12th customers of the new biturbine, ten tons class helicopter of NH Industries.
