My favourite airports (UK and Europe):

Brussels (goes without saying!)
Manchester
Birmingham
London City
Heathrow, but I haven't been since 1999.

My least favourite airport is CDG - vile terminals (terminal 2 is gross), no proper viewing from inside terminal. I just do not like anything about that airport I'm afraid.

I would like to visit Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Zurich, Innsbruck (to see that mountain approach!) Madrid to see the IB CRJs.
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

This is my list based on the airports I have visited:

Madrid Barajas => Loads of heavies,
Paris CDG => Much traffic,
London Heathrow => Simply stunning!
Moscow Domododevo + St. Petersburg => Love those Russian planes!

Shiphol, Frankfurt and Dusseldorf are top :D (together with Heathrow and CDG)
Innsbruck is very nice too, but there are so many good spottingplaces around Europe (Madrid, Ibiza and Zurich among others have there own reasons to be "special"), that it's not easy to choose a "best one" i think :wink:
in fact it depends on what you are used to see, and what you would like to see for a change : the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence :wink:

My 2 best for overall "seeability" would be Frankfurt and Dusseldorf as they both have 2 good areas to view from, each with cover should the weather be inclement.

Amsterdam is a good first "awayday" as it is cheap and easy to get to from UK but suffers in that you can't see everything that moves from the terrace - check out the terminal/runway plan.

CDG is busy and has variety but the best places to view are in the open and exposed.

Have fun wherever you get to - there are lots of numbers to be made for a first time visitor, even at Brussels!

I can only talk about airports I have visited so far, unfortunately AMS, LHR or CDG are not amongst them:
No ranking here:

- Frankfurt: Good traffic, average spotting opporunities
- Zürich: Traffic used to be better some time, but the facilities are a spotter's dream!
- Oostende: Not quantity counts, but quality :wink:
- Salzburg: The winter charter weekends are legendary...
- Nürnberg: Well, my home airport 8)

Hermann
