The Antonov took off at 1203lt with callsign ADB2073 on RWY 25R. Instead of a slow climb to go easy on the engines, the pilots made a rocket-like take off. Russian quality? ;-)

http://www.vtm.be/asx/vtmnieuws/vtmnieuws13uur_Wo.asx

forward time reg to 13 minutes 30 seconds

(just before take off is a story about the new railway line Leuven/Louvain to BRU)

(the story will be online at VTM till 13 December 2005 only)

If the above link doens't work:

http://www.vtm.be/nieuws/index_bekijkonline.htm

then choose "Woensdag 7 dec, 13u", then choose modem or wide band

Thanks Glider

Too bad you couldn't make it today.

One advantage : you didn't freeze as I did over there

Regards, Robin Bamps.

No problem, I had also a good time. almost 4 houres in cold, rain, snow, crew refusing to depart and a lot of tax-free goods being embarked is way yo much to handle alone

did anyone also notice that at her parking she was slightly hanging to the right (from spotters point of view)?

can anyone tell me what her destination was and her fate?

grtz,
Simon

It was impressive to watch the four minutes engine run-up when she was lined-up. And even the aviation gods were pleased with her departure as they put a rainbow on the background when she left EBBR.

Only seconds after her departure a C130 from Melsbroek taxied via A1 to 25R, the taxiway which was blocked by the Antonov for one and a half year.

I saw the images on tv. Gracious take-off, it was... It will be weird when coming home tomorrow, via the Haachtsesteenweg, and seeing... nothing...

Oh well, glad she's back in the air. I hope she will visit us again, but without that many problems ;-)
