I am 99,9% sure it's the designer that doesn't have a clue about EasyJet's fleet. EasyJet operates 737NG's and even A319, both very modern aircraft. I could not believe they would start operating a type that is more than 20 years old !!!
I know what you mean. Often when there is a topic on television, f.e. on the news, they let see the wrong aircrafts, so maybe this is the same on that billboard.
A couple of years back (if i remember right) EasyJet was looking at leasing a 747 from an italian operator, i read it in airliner world a couple of years back even had a picture of one painted in the EasyJet livery (artist impression possibly). they were planning on using it on high density routes.

If I remember correctly this was an april fools joke

This is a remark I also made a lot of times!
Not all persons have the same big aviation knowledge as most 'Luchtzakkers' do have .
It would be cool if they did get a widebody jet (airlines are getting rid of A340-300s soon) and they started flights to JFK. This would be a huge sucess, many people cannot afford BA of Virgin flights across the pond. and from Luton it could be cheaper.

I think something like that from luton or stansted would be successful, Easyjet & Ryanair both liveries would look great on an A340 would definatly give the majors a run for there money.

-Getting old so more expensive to maintain.
-Rather noisy aircraft don't think many passengers like them.
-Different from A319 and b737-700: more hassle crew-wise and capacity-wise I believe.

It is my experience that the 737NG is just as loud inside as the 737-300/400/500. Or did Transavia strip out some sound insulation to reduce weight? Because otherwise I can't tell the difference.

You did read it somewhere: on the first page of the APRIL issue of AirlinerWorld...
It created a lot of 'buzz' on the net, but of course it was an april fools joke.
I remeber jsut after they launched Inverness and all the scotland routes and were expanding when everyone thought they were a joke that they were linked with leasing in or buying 2 Boeing 757s for no other reason then to fly between Luton and Athens. Thats the only large a/c i ever saw EZY linked with.
Oh for sure man, im talking big ORANGE 757s though. Stelios was always walking about the spectators building because it was pretty much joined onto the EZYland headquarters. Easy for local enthusiasts to start rumours but im pretty sure they were close on aquiring them. Now the specs is no more and I didnt see him around in ages. Take into account this was like 7/8 yrs ago
