I remember that two years ago when they was also a lot of snow on a friday morning my family had to wait for a few hours on board of CO61 to EWR. And indeed they said it is very boring for the passengers but the crew said if the deboard the plane they loose their cue in the waiting list and they would have to wait many more hours. So the passengers didn't complain about all of that.

Thank you very much, Skystef and Garydus, for your answers!
If you can count the blades of my engines while they work, you are too close to be save

Communication is the key word.
As long as the pax are well informed, they will accept the situation and realize that everybody is doing its best to get them going.
As a side note I would like to add something. Lot's of pax are discomforted due these extreme conditions, but lot's of them also do not realize that ground staff has to do extra time. So, if you get stuck due to bad weather conditions, it's of no use to blame someone

Hi,
Saturday was indeed a bit of a mess. My flight from LHR to BRU (BA 388) got delayed for approx. 2h in LHR.
The STD was 06h55, but we only started boarding on that time. After all pax were on board (only 50 or so on A321 G-EUXC) we pushed back from T4 and taxied towards RWY 27R, but stopped near the maintenance hangars. There the pilots shut down the engines (precisely as explained earlier to the pax) and told us we could use our mobile phones again until they would ask us to switch them back off. Eventually we left LHR at 9AM and arrived at BRU around 10h45 LT, after a nice but sometimes bumpy ride through the snow clouds (and a great view of snowy Flanders).
But, this is a weather thing, so you can't blame the airline for these issues. Actually BA handled it pretty well I think and informed the pax really good.
Did I already mentioned I was already awake for approx. 34h after CNS-HKG and HKG-LHR?
Greets,
Ivan
