Post by vc-10 »

How do I set up a VA? It would be British World Airlines, known as bwa. At the moment it is only on www.airlineempires.net , and my website www.freewebs.com/supervc10 bur I would need a better livery etc.

setting up a va is ahard job, takes a lot of dedication and toughtful planning and isn't something you should do without a thorough plan.
It's also very time consuming without giving results immediatly, everything takes a lot of time and if you are not motivated enough you might get sick of it before you actually start to get succes and start working well.

a good knowledge of computers is very much recommended since you'll have to deal with it all, aklso you shoudl be able to make your own site from scratch (raw html from nothing, not using a freewebs template)

I agree with sab319. You need to be motivated, know html etc... But the most improtant question is why am I creating a VA? If you will be able to find a good answer to this question your VA will probably have a chance.
Good luck!

Hmm I doubt I would be able to do it. I have no idea what html is apart from that it is someting to do with the web.
I would like to do one because I thought it might be fun.

why is it too complicate, you do the liveries and sutff, but then , where's the complication ? do you need to have some routes schedules ? things like that ?

Oh.... I thought it was in Flight Simulator, but it's not? It's a game like football manager but with planes ?

You could also try to get into the management of a current VA. If you just wish to have more responsibility than being an active pilot then I would certainly consider this option.

If however your goal is to decide everything yourself, then you will have to build your own VA.

To start a VA you will need a fleet painter, a website designer a lot of time and a huge load of perseverance since it will be very tough.

If you decide to go ahead and build your own VA then I wish you good luck!

It would depend of what kind of VA you wanna launch...in most cases,
if not all, php is a neccessity for filing PIREPs. Of course you can also
recruit people (better to be those you know in the real life), coz setting
up a VA all by yourself can be very difficult.

I'm also planning to launch a VA next year, but that would be slightly
different to other VAs coz I'm more interested in inflight products,
services, aircraft efficiency, aircraft design and airport (town) planning.
But that's another story...

Good luck with your VA~

A VA or virtual airline tries to simulate the real world operations of an airline. You have different levels of realism. Some are very strict and are based on real world airlines others don't have a real counterpart.

Some virtual airlines assign pilots flights while other let you choose your own flights, some require you to fly a flight every 30 days while others give you 90 days time. Some require you to fly online on Vatsim others give you the freedom of flying both online or offline.

The best VAs have strong bonds within their pilot ranks in which you can have and make a lot of good friends.

Some good Virtual Airlines in no particular order:
MidContinent Airlines (this is in my opinion the most realistic VA out there
Euro Harmony
American Flight Airways

Sabena and Sn Brussels Virtual Airlines
UPS Virtual Airline
Virtual Continental Airlines (this airline requires all pilots to fly on Vatsim).

There are a ton more of Virtual Airlines out there. Do a search in google or visit the Web Links - Virtual Airlines on Luchtzak.

Has anyone written a good, realistic flight simulator for a fake/nonexistent aircraft?

For example, when was the first A380 flight simulator made?
