SkyEurope (NE) to BRU

Post by AirbusA350 »

SkyEurope Airlines (NE) will launch flights from Krakow (KRK) to Brussels (BRU) next spring- S06. NE will base two of its new B737-700 (with winglets) in KRK. Although it's not yet official, NE is hosting a press conference tomorrow in Krakow to announce its new plans.

The new routes from KRK will be:
-Naples
-Athens
-Birmingham
-Bolonga
-Brussels
-Stockholm

The names of the airports were not mention, but I speculate that they will be central airports, judging from NE/5P strategy and I expect for you to see the new B737-700 in BRU.

You're very welcome Avro.

According to NE/5P's concept of serving the main airports, BRU is most likely to be added to SkyEurope's network. I can assure you that NE/5P will fly to BRU, I'm 94% certain. Tomorrow(today in Europe) I'll give you further info about this development.

Both Christian Mandl and Alain Skowronek are Belgians, they are the cofounders of SkyEurope.

Good to see them coming! If the flight is successful, I guess it's only a matter of time before they start flights to BRU from their other hubs!

Very good news indeed. I have to say that this news was a rumour months ago when they already speculate to come to Bru. So, in this case it's a new development.

But we have to wait until it's official announced.

There is no announcements yet on SkyEurope's website, but I would remain optimistic about this development. I received an acknowledgement concerning SkyEurope's plans, so I ask you for some patience.

Slots have been filed and awarded so will indeed be great getting them in.. will be crucial to see how a low cost is able to stimulate an Eastern/Central EU market.

Everything is now official and the frequencies mentioned above agree with what I was hearing. The timetable is not yet updated for S06 so you can treat the reservation system as the main source for frequencies and times of departures and arrivals.

NE 676 KRKBRU
1-3-5--7
1 0700 0910
3 5 1720 1930
7 1835 2045
73G

NE 677 BRUKRK
1-3-5--7
1 0950 1155
3 5 2010 2215
7 2125 2330
73G

Mon. seem to be adapted, somewhat, for business travelers although these hours are not the best, they do coincide with tourist pax, this is only for KRKBRU route. The v.v. looks to be only for tourist pax. Wed. and Fri. evening hours are perfect for those traveling for truistic means, same applies for Sun. .

The hours are indeed not the best, hope this will not be an effect on the results.

Finally BRU received an other low cost carrier. Being very curious on the effect on the market.

I presume it will be ARN, since it's a central airport and I doubt that NE will change its mind on serving primary airports. NYO is served by W6 from KTW so I don't think that NE will be looking for competition.

NYO is 100km from Stockholm right in the middle of nowhere. It's like saying Rotterdam Airport is Amsterdam South Airport. Of course not as bad as Frankfurt-Hahn, but still, these far-away airports are a big waste of time.

This summer we went to Stockholm from Amsterdam. First we had to go to Rotterdam, then we flew to NYO, and there we took a bus to Stockholm. The whole trip took us 8 hours. I won't be doing that again ever, if I can help it. At some point, trying to fly cheap means such an excessive travel time, that trains become a viable option.

If you click on Stockholm on their website, it indeed says Stockholm - Arlanda. Arlanda is still 30km from Stockholm but it counts as the main airport. Contrary to NYO, it actually looks like an airport too.
