Video Cameras Onboard

Post by phoenix28 »

Could anyone provide information as regards whether video cameras are installed onboard aircraft both in the cabin and cockpit side. Which airlines have installed them? Which are the companies that manufacture such cameras?

Any literature on this front would be appreciated.

Thanks.

What i meant was cameras which are installed in the cabin area which are used for monitoring passengers in the cabin. Such video would be played live to the pilot in the cockpit so as to monitor activities in the cabin area [More on the lines of CCTV i guess]. I believe few airlines have installed them already. These cameras are installed for surveillance in the cabin and also cargo area, there has been little clarity i guess as to whether such cameras should be installed in the cockpit to monitor pilots. The video generated from such monitoring is likely to be feeded to ground stations as well, so in case they find suspicious activity or whatever that constitutes to be dangerous, the ground controls would be in a better position to react.

Ah so what's next, sleeping gas in the environmental systems and a remote control override? Then if anything strange happens, they can incapacitate everybody on board and land the plane by remote.
