Thanks for the comments. The EK ones were from the car park, as was the first SNBA one, the MyTravel Lite, Zoom, US Airways. Others were from the cafe, as it was warmer in there
The cafe is my favourite bit but we needed to see the EK and I wanted to buy some photos so we went to the car park as well.

Morning until early afternoon is the time to see the heavies at MAN. There is a Qatar aircraft in the evening, which I haven't seen yet, but generally heavies are departed by early afternoon.
In the afternoon you get smaller aircraft on domestic and European services (though you get the smaller ones at other times too). Charter flights, of course, always go at weird times.
At BHX I found that mid afternoon was decent for heavies, bagging a A310 of PIA and a 777 of Air India when I was there in September.
But for me spotting is always rewarding because each spot this year has given me something new, either to photograph or video. I don't get much opportunity to spot so there are always plenty of aircraft and airlines around that I've not bagged in the past.

What is the new job you are trying for Louise?
Also I forgot to mention that bmibaby's Visit Wales was also there but I didn't get the chance to photograph it.
