Plot: A claustrophobic, Hitchcockian thriller. A bereaved woman and her daughter are flying home from Berlin to America. At 30,000 feet the child vanishes and nobody admits she was ever on that plane.

She's definitely very nice.

The movie story seems also very interesting. That's a movie I'll probably go and watch.

I meant that I don't like the name the've given the jet, 'Aalto Air E-474'. Both was in response to you saying 'nice thriller of nice woman?'

It looks like we have our first A380 starring movie here, even though it is not refered to as the airbus product and the vertical tail is a bit modified. I just checked the website of the movie and it s very well done, and this E474 has a very nice first class section with a wi-fi access which would be great on a real aircraft, wouldn't it? I ll definitely go and see the movie.

Erm, looking at the website, E-474 is way bigger than A-380!

But the first class... Somehow I am not favourably impressed by the twin-aisle, 2-2-2 seating. Though, sure, I do not know the pitch numbers in First.

I saw Red Eye yesterday and I saw the trailer of Flightplan. It's indeed a double decker plane in this movie.

Can someone have a guess of what the fuselage size of the E-474 is?

I mean, 3-6-3 layout. AND they boast of unusual amount of shoulder room for all passengers - even in Coach. And 800 passengers - not sure if it is all together or just the Coach.

Boeing 747 has 610 cm inside. And 10 abreast. And that is usual. Airbus 380 has 658 cm width. Also 10 abreast. And on that grounds, is thought to be roomier. I suppose that E-474 has to surpass B-747, but not necessarily A-380.

So, the 2 extra middle-middle seats... I suggest that the main deck width is in the region of 750-800 cm. Any comments?

fftopic: but may I remind everbody it's a movie. Who cares about dimensions ?

Some scenes I've seen in movies and aircraft :

- a pax flying a 747 with his laptop as FMC as the crew was struck by lightning.
- a take off roll of several minutes
- a guy walking thru the (fully loaded) lower deck looking for his bag/cellphone
- a guy opening that same fully loaded cargo hold from the inside, and throwing out a few containers
- ramp people loading a car as if they were parking it in a garage.
- a man sucked thru a running engine. This only gives a slight performance problem ??????? . How come a few birds are so dangerous 8O
- engineers loading a few thousend liters of water in the nose-wheel bay to keep the a/c in trim range (in midair

)
- a guy jumping from the nose-wheel during take-off roll.

So, who cares about dimensions

What I can't understand, and I hope those who have seen it can help me, why is the film called 'Flightplan'?

What relevance to a flight plan does this film have?

I can probably guess - when filing flight plans for flights there is a question that needs to be submitted - Persons on Board: You input crew+pax or if unknown TBN (but this is not recommended, especially on commercial flights)....

Is this the conection?

I went to see the movie last week and I can say that even though I was really looking forward to seeing it, I was vey disappointed.

I m still waiting for a GOOD movie staring an aircraft, I mean, they are all so poorly done. The aircraft in Flightplan is ugly from the outside but the cabin is just great.

Not in this one but in many movies you see the inside of a 737 while the pax are supposed to be onboard a 747 for instance.

Maybe it is called Flightplan because they have to change it and land in Canada if I m not mistaken. And the plan was to hijack the aircraft, sorry for those who haven't seen it yet

take a look at the website featuring the E-474 introduction! Apart from that the plane looks quite odd, it appears to me that these guys have invested more efforts than Boeing with their recent introduction of the 747-8!!!

I like the different sections of what you can explore and also the scans of the technical drawing. And: the cockpit images look way better that what has been presented by Boeing for the 748!

But anyway, the plane's wings look very strange - you should take a look at the shape and the winglets in the 3D model (which you can rotate - that is far better that the "1/2 from right behind" view that Boeing offers!). I am not familiar with wing design but this wing looks really like coming directly out of Frakenstein's garage.

And ... 'wondered about the strange design of the overhead bins. They really look like that stuff will drop out when opening after flight as well as the already mentioned 3-6-3 seating. maybe it is also a mistake to have loose boxes in the cargo area standing around like in a storage area ...

I guess with some of you guys from luchtzak they would have designed a better plane! how about the idea to collect some issues in a list with recommendations and then send it to the guys in charge for the E-474??
