La Reunion Aerienne confirms

Post by SN30952 »

Paris-based insurance pool La Reunion Aerienne confirmed it provided hull and liability coverage for the Air France Airbus A340.
La Reunion Aerienne*, an international pool, counts among its members Arch Insurance Co., Generali Assurances IARD, Groupama Transport, Mapfre Industrial, Mutuelle du Mans Assurances and Sompo Japan Insurance Inc*.

Experts estimates put the insured costs at between $100 million and $110 million for hull loss, and about $100 million for claims from injuries and lawsuits.

Depuis 1953, La Réunion Aérienne, spécialiste de l'assurance aviation, souscrit les risques inhérents aux activités aéronautiques pour le compte de ses compagnies membres :

ARCH Insurance Company,
GENERALI Assurances I.A.R.D.,
GROUPAMA Transport,
MAPFRE Industrial s.a.s.,
MUTUELLE du Mans Assurances I.A.R.D.,
SOMPO Japan Insurance Inc.

La Réunion Aérienne
50 rue Ampère
Paris 75 017 (France)
Téléphone : 33 (0)1 43 18 46 00
Télécopie : 33 (0)1 44 29 25 30

In a worst-case Toronto scenario, the total cost to insurers could have ranged from $700 million to $1.3 billion.

*Generali, Groupama and La Mutuelle du Mans each has a 24.93% share of the underwriting portfolio. Arch has a 10.81% share, Sompo Japan has 7.4%, and Mapfre has 7%.

A visit to their pages "Statistiques Mondiales" is worthwhile: 36 % du montant des sinistres des dix dernières années reste à payer.

Mechanical failure ruled out.

Post by SN30952 »

Initial probe has ruled out mechanical failure as the cause of the Air France crash, Real Levasseur said Monday.
As the aircraft wheels touch down, we see the brakes applied right away, we see the spoilers come up to slow down the plane, we see reverse thrusters fully deployed Levasseur told.
It seems that there was nothing wrong with that aircraft, Weather will no doubt be a factor" he said.

The cause of the fire that engulfed the plane after it ground to a halt also remains still a mystery to investigators.

Hello folks!

Indeed horrible crash. And even 2 close after each other. To bad that the Tuninter ATR-72 crash DID had a lot of deadly victims. Too bad.

Too bad these things happen. Again some more people with horrible expierence with flying , a lot of them will never step in a plane again I think :D. But it's not good at all. This might cause again more fear of flying and maybe some more bad words about aviation safety.

I wouldn't want to be in the pilot's place ,landing halfway the runway, can happen but , he must feel really bad , just as all the victims in it.

I wish them all much strongth to come trough this hard times.

Best regards: Yannick ;)

Perhaps but we still ignore the reason.
Brutal change of wind direction or wind speed.

wait and see

Are you implying that the airport is cursed?

if everybody denies that there is any fault at all, we have to look at different directions, isn't?

There is a joined class-action lawsuit filed last week in Ontario Superior Court, which seeks $269 million in damages for trauma, any future medical expenses and loss of property and earnings.
ImageMary Schiavo*, author of the book "Flying Blind, Flying Safe" urged the passengers to move quickly, as the Warsaw Convention, which regulates liability for international airlines, has strict deadlines.

Some are angered by what they see as a lack of communication with Air France and the discrepancies so far in compensation. Some passengers have received $1,000, others $2,000 and still others $3,500.

*Mary Schiavo is former inspector general for the U.S. Department of Transportation. Read also: "Flying Blind, Flying Safe"

As soon as there is money to make, you can expect the American sharks (I mean the lawyers, who get up to 50% of the damages) to jump in. Disgusting!

Lawyers make often a living from the mistakes of others, as medical doctors live from healing health problems of their patients. And a governor of a jail lives indirectly of criminality: without criminals (s) he has no job. Same goes for the police.
It is not just, as said Calimero...

Thamk you for the article... SO according to them they took 12 seconds to reverse...
But thet also sAy that the control tower didn't said the right wind speed...

so the only innocent seems to be the plane... apart from the pilot seat which broke, projecting the pilot the window...

"One year after the Air France flight 358 accident at the Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport, the team of Transportation Safety Board (TSB) investigators has produced an initial draft investigation report (A05H0002) that will be reviewed by the Board for approval or amendments.

Once the draft report is approved, a confidential draft report will be sent to persons and corporations whose interests may be affected by the report and who are most qualified to comment on its accuracy. This process is intended to ensure procedural fairness and the accuracy of the Board's final report. The Board will consider all representations and comments, amend the report if required, and may make recommendations to address any safety deficiencies. Once the final report is approved by the Board, it will be released to the public."

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have gone through that experience?
