I have just seen on BBC News that terminal 2 at Heathrow is to be demolished as part of the revamp of London's main airport. Terminal 2 is used by European airlines other than British Airways and is situated next to the Queen's Building, known for its roof top viewing area.
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

If T5 is finished BA will move to T5, T4 will be closed for refurbishment and after reopening Virign Atlantic will move there. So that makes that there will be enough free space in T1 and T3 to be able to demolish T2. All kinda logical
T2 will be demolished and replaced by a state-of-the-art complex who can handle 30 million pax a year. Also T3 and T4 will be refurbished.
All that has to be finished by 2012 for the Olympics.
All this can be done ones in a lifetime, the space at LHR is very limited so they have to handle know after T5 is finished.
T4 refurbished? Must be big job. Tearing down the whole lot and putting a new glas/steel structure in place might be cheaper - and more comfortable to the passengers getting rid off the low ceilings and dreadful long walks.

It's about time! But, i think it's rather too late modernising LHR, compared to FRA, AMS, FCO/MXP, MAD and CDG. Look at them! I'd rather connect in one of these airport than in LHR these days.
LHR is just awfull connecting! Especially T2 and T1.
Well, acoduing th the times newspaper, Terminal 2 is to be demolished. It will be re-placed with Terminal East, which will be Star Alliance and Virgin Atlantic. All other carriers will be in one and three, with 4 being refurbished.
