Does anyone have news about this ?

I read there has been at least six accidents with this problem and Airbus is investigating..

There have been many more than six as you have stated.


This report explains in intricate detail all the facts surrounding the failure at LAX, it also goes on to say their have been as many as 67 occurances of this type involving this aircraft model.

It's crazy to read. I got the impression that because it's a not critical problem, they (Airbus and Messier-Dowty) are not in a hurry to fix it.

Apparently it's not only Airbus who's struggling with that problem... I personally witnessed twice the same problem with B747-200 in the last year, but without tyre blow due to aborted take-off.

Does anyone remember the flemish Airport series on Zaventem :?:

I think "het leven zoals..." :?: , quite a while ago on één :?:

Well I remember seeing a Sabena A330 in that series just after landing had the same problem. The nose gear had rotated 90° and become locked in that position. They had to send a towtruck.

Indeed I remember that incident.

The program was called: "Het leven zoals het is: Luchthaven"

I think the thing on "Het Level Zoals Het is" was that the aircraft was vacating the runway, and the pilot turned the nose wheel more then allowed, so the wheel blocked.

That is just ridiculous, given Airbus' tendency to use hard-set limits, why on earth can you turn the nosewheel further than allowed??

The first of many Aviation Safety Board mandatory inspections and possible replacements has been ordered.

Another occurance of nose wheel lock failure, only this time there have been minor injuries.

It doesn't say that the nose wheel was locked, but that it wouldn't extend.

Sadly lacking are more detailed facts from that area of the world, what concerns me is this is related to the same type of aircraft and was covered under an inspection directive from Airbus and National regulators to repair and modify this landing gear so this did not occur.

Thankfully no serious injuries occured, but it is a matter of time before something more damaging or deadly occurs!

It's not a critical problem, unless you are on the aircraft - then your persepctive might change!
