Ok, I have seen SNBA's partner airlines, and it looks like they would be greatly beinnifitted by joining oneworld alliance. It feels like they should. It's a great airline, and a great alliance. Why has there been no movement towards this? Regards,

Because it doesn't fit in SNBA's strategy. They like to stay independent so they can offer flights/connections with any airline which they want to codeshare with.
When they would be a member of e.g. oneworld, the choice is rather limited of intensive partnership agreements.
But... it's SNBA's strategy today. It's possible they change their mind, let's wait and see (because we can't change anything about it)

You don't join an alliance because you would love to do it.
You need to fulfill a lot of conditions.
Like money backup
Need to serve your pax what the alliance wants like a minimum in onboard service, lounges,...
You must have a sector that interesse the Alliance so the Alliance can get bigger.

Don't forget Aer Lingus was almost dropped out of the One World Alliance a couple of years ago because they wanted to stop their Business service on European routes.
Companies as AA, BA, QF, CX can't afford putting their business class pax on such a connecting flight where their pax wouldn't receive the a proper Business service.
You just don't join an Alliance because you would like it, just keep this in mind.
But it is correct that most SNBA partners are One World members as BA, AA, AY, IB,........ But they have also members on proper routes who are no One World members as AZ, LX, MA,........

Interestingly, the possibility of SNBA joining the One World alliance was a factor attracting Macquarie Airports to Brussels airport, as you can see in their presentation. This was released after MAp was successful in its bid for Brussels airport.
