No problem with that, but this story is more complex than just wondering if the unions are going to pay your salary or mine.
I am just defending the last ressort WE have to say no to the governors who are completely cut off from reality.
I am not in favor of a strike, I think that when we arrive to this it's because there had been a lack somewhere and here the government have a huge responsability in the millions of € wich hve been lost, don't forget that people don't do that with pleasure, do you really think they prefer the indemnity (peanuts) from the unions in place of being normally paid by the company? Noway of course.
I understand the imperatives of the aviation world but don't forget human beings, competition is not an end.
How to chase away passengers and investors?

A bit off topic, but I'm disappointed to see that people with extremely good knowledge of mathematics don't see how it's going wrong.
50 years ago, people start working at their 16th, they've worked 44 hours a week, and they worked till they were 65. And average age was 71. And 5% of the Belgian population was jobless.
Nowadays, people start working when they're 25, they work 36 hours a week, and they want to stop at 55 or 58. And average age is 79. And 13% of the Belgian population is jobless.
If the governement is not interfering now, our pension system will crack down.
VW Vorst / Forest wants early retirement at 55. Look what the new German government has advised last week: retirement from 65 to 67!
(I know, it's off topic. But that was the reason why Brucargo was blocked)

With the strike of yesterday, we had two "gerechtsdeurwaarders", sorry I don't know the word in English, at Brucargo. This was a cooperation of all the companies at Brucargo to be shore our companies could work 24H at 24H. And it works, the unions were afraid of this. The first strike 400 militants at Brucargo, yesterday 15.
There I fully agree with you LX-LGX! The important thing is to look for solutions for a given problem and not to keep on talking about each others point of view on that problem. OK, that has to happen to, but it has to end after a while when the time is there to go to the negotiation table.LX-LGX wrote:

There is a reason why I was against last friday's strike and that is this one: there had already been a strike by the unions before the weekend of the negotiations with the governement. I fully understand that, it's to put pressure on the governement and make your demands count. However, last weekend negotiations took place and what happens? The unions, or at least their members, don't agree with the outcome and decide to strike again...sorry, but to me this is a clear proof of a lack of maturity! Once negotiated, a contract is to be kept the way it is: both sides have made compromises and the outcome should be accepted. If one of the negotiating parties is not willing to give in on any of it's demands, negotiations are useless and the final outcome will be determinded by the one with the most decision power...and believe me, in this time of economic downturn, the unions are not in a good position.
just my two cents though
I completely agreed with you LG-LGX about doing something otherwise our pension system wich will crack down if we continue like this. But I don't think that what will be applicated will give back work to young people!
How will you? People are going to work longer (very good I think, you are not useless when you are 55 I think) but in keeping this tax level on workers do you really think that it will enhance the employment of youth?
No way of course , this strike was not ONLY against this en career plans but also the work of young people.
And by the way LxLGX , avoid simple comparison between 1950 and today will you, the situtation is really different , I can't understand that from a person who has'' extremely good knowledge of mathematics''.
