good european scenery

Post by teddybAIR »

Hy guys!

Since a few weeks I am gradually adapting (read: enhancing) my fs2004 by adding realistic traffic and airports. I must confess, it is far more fun flying now! Nevertheless, currently I am looking for good scenery (landscapes that is) of Belgium and Europe (doesn't matter whether it is one package with the whole of europe or several different packages for each country). Since installing wrong scenery can give weird effects (floating aeroports), I wanted to ask you guys which scenery you use, where it is available (9/10 on avsim...such a cool site :!: :D ), and whether you are pleased with it.

thx in advance

Hi,

I basically stopped flightsimming about a year ago (time constraints) so I don't know any of the new stuff but in my opinion the best general scenery (no airport) improvement one can get is by installing mesh scenery. Mesh scenery is basically just realistic height-data. It is relatively computing-power friendly (doesn't eat CPU cycles like some sceneries do) while it improves quite a lot on realism, especially in areas that contain a lot of mountains, hills, etc (like Italy, Greece, ...)

Mesh data can be found on avsim... where else ;-)

Happy flying,
Wim.

This is a great site: http://walhalla.mine.nu/fs2004.php :D! You will find there everything you want. And I think that for Belgium, the Belg7000 scenery is a must.

Fully agree, but I have some problems installing it! Did you simply follow the instructions included in the ZIP-file or is there something extra to pay attention to, cause my Belg7000 scenery (v2.3) doesn't work for the moment?

Apperently, the problem is that he creates a folder c:fs2004 that is not in the program files: microsoft games: flight simulator directory. And I wonder how I can now include the scenery from the c:fs2004 directory in my fs2004 scenery library...can anybody help me out here?

Just copy all the files from c:fs2004 to your MSFS directory. After start MSFS click on Settings/Scenery Library, add the scenery like described in readme and restart MSFS. Myself I followed the instructions and it was working, but now after the reformating of my system I didn't have time to reinstall it.
