Does this mean that, if succesful, they will fly two aircraft out of BRU? Anyway, its always great news to welcome a new airline in BRUAtlantis wrote: This will not be with an cargo airplane but with the passenger airplane. They will take per flight 15 ton of cargo. When, after some months, the cargo increase they will use a large cargo airplane.

I had contact with someone of Etihad Crystal Cargo in Abu Dhabi.
For the moment they can't land with the current cargo aircraft to BRU, It's a little bit too far to do this in one time, FRA is just the limit. But Etihad Crystal Cargo is expanding and who knows they will add some aircraft with a larger range. Month after month they signed intentions to lease cargo airplanes from other airlines.
For the moment they will try the market here in Belgium. That's why they use the pax aircraft for their cargo, 14 tons each way. If it's a success, and I have no doubt about that they want to come with a full cargo aircraft. So, indeed it could be that we, on a day, see a pax aircraft and a cargo aircraft at the same time. For Brucargo, Etihad Crystal Cargo gave the intention to be very interested to fly to BRU.
That's what I know for the moment. If I know more I will let you know

Avia will be the handling agent for them. No ticketing desk will be opened by Etihad, everything will be done by Aviapartner ticketing. The dedicated staff from Aviapartner for Etihad will be wearing the full uniform as well ! ( sign of big money, BGS dedicated SNBA are not recieving SNBA uniforms anymore, nor will Avia dedicated BA ). Etihad will provide concierge services ( 2 stewards showing the First class pax around in the airport, taking them up to the lounge,... ) The airline will make use of the SN Brussels Airlines B lounge (ex Sabena C class lounge). They apparently made a deal with BIAC to always receive stand 205 ( B5 ) for their flights... They also are going to startup their own FFP by the beginning of next year.
That's about all I was able to find out today...
By they way, I saw that SNBA only sells 32 seats on the toronto leg, why so few ?

32 seats out of 225 seats on an A332 = 14.2% of available seats.By they way, I saw that SNBA only sells 32 seats on the toronto leg, why so few ?
EY may be expecting sufficient loads between AUH and YYZ.
The fares between these destinations look certainly very impressive.
Obviously higher revenue seats will get priority over lower revenue seats.
I've just made a test booking on a random date.

Remember Etihad is mainly stopping at brussels to refuel! It's main aim is to carry people from Abu Dhabi to Toronto, not Brussels to Toronto or Brussels to Abu Dhabi!JM wrote:

I reckon Eithad just needed a reliable partner in BRU to help out if needed! (I mean Crew and so forth) Giving a few seats to Sn ensures Sn will stay as a reliable partner! + 30 smthing seats to Sn ensures a steady Lump sum for Etihad which is always useful if for whatever reason the Route is not as succesful!
Tomorrow the forecast will be rainy. ETA 17.35H, I hope there will be enough light to make pictures because with the winter time it's an hour earlier dark. I think best change to take pictures will be Thuesday when he returned from YYZ around noon. But still when the weather tomorrow will be reasonable, I'm going to spot.
Etihad does not even have traffic rights between Brussels and Toronto: SN will have to fill those seats alone.Vinnie-Winnie wrote:Remember Etihad is mainly stopping at brussels to refuel! It's main aim is to carry people from Abu Dhabi to Toronto, not Brussels to Toronto or Brussels to Abu Dhabi!

Tomorrow night she makes her first appearance. I would have liked to go see her arrive/depart, but I think I will wait and depart on the flight myself in another four weeks  Or I just might go Friday night and see her in all her beauty, bathed under the airport lights.
Atlantis, you should make history for photographing either the arriving/departing EY501/502. Too bad EY arrives and departs from YYZ at night.
More details tomorrow. SN26567 you need to declare the Week Oct 31 to Nov 4 as Etihad Airways week on Luchtzak

This week is the start of connections from Canada to Brussels and the Middle East.

What kind agreement does SN have with EY? Are we talking about a blocked space agreement whereby SN has to pay for the 30 seats regardess of whether they sell them or has SN only a right to sell 30 seats?Giving a few seats to Sn ensures Sn will stay as a reliable partner! + 30 smthing seats to Sn ensures a steady Lump sum for Etihad which is always useful if for whatever reason the Route is not as succesful!
I hope these fares are inclusive all taxes and surcharges as EUR 552.26 for BRU-YYZ isn''t cheap if exxcluding all the taxes....SN BRU-YYZ-BRU => 552.26 EUR
SN BRU-AUH-BRU => 443.15 EUR promo fare

Saw it in Antwerp. When you enter the : 'turnhoutse poort' huge indeed.
