I didn't read all posts ( I don't have the time) but this is what I have to say:
First of all the Belgian blacklist IS a joke. 2 Airlines mentioned on the list don't exist anymore and one airline on the blacklist still flies in our country.
Furthermore they seem to concentrate on Cargo Airlines, but I thought they wanted to publish a blacklist so the pax know which airline they should avoid. Pax don't fly cargo do they ?
It's just ridiculous to make such lists. They should rather mkae warning lists lik they did it in NL.

What the need is an EU or European wde list - individual country lists are completely worthless. Not that I condone such practices but imagine how quickly things would be cleared if say, membership of the EU was linked to cleaning up this mess? I bet some of those Eastern european governments would jump then......
I suppose you're talking about 'Silverback Cargo'. This is indeed correct: there are still 5 flights a week to BRU by this carrier. I don't think this will last very long: action groups are already protesting about this...Avro wrote: Airlines mentioned on the list don't exist anymore and one airline on the blacklist still flies in our country.

What do you mean with "hard evidence"... photos perhaps ???you must make your accusations hard with hard evidence,
Lack of maintenance happens all over the world ! The west-european countries do have the best scores, I don't argue with that, but what I saw in Ostend (a few years ago - African aircraft - repaired with scrapheap-part) was reality !
As I already mentioned, blacklists are not the solution to make safety better, better would be to decrease the unattended technical inspections on planes; if serious malfunctions are discovered, or malfunctions that have been ignored over a certain period, the company (not the captain) gets high financial penalties; that would really hurt companies that are ignoring the safety.
1st paragraph : I think I answered already that question in earlier postings so just have a look at them again.Pluto777 wrote:What do you mean with "hard evidence"... photos perhaps ???

2nd paragraph : Sorry my friend but to me you are as guilty as the guys who ordered you to do those repairs. You were in the position to report those criminal things, why didn't you?
To me discussion is closed because we're getting

Air France decided to return to CDG by themself. They feared the plane could be grounded after landing in Cameroun. Actually, Camerounean governement isn't involved in that.yagoceron wrote:Because Cameroon Airlines is in the French back list, an AF flight to Cameroon had to return to CDG as Cameroon authorities denied it authorization to land in that country.

The answer? Safety - NOT. Politics, what else?

These blacklists do not make much sense to me in the state that they are in. In my view, it is simply not enough to place airline A is a blacklist without any information on what infringment the airline or its national regulatory authority may have done.
I think the lists should be more informative. If an airline is guilty of faulty maintenance, then that should be cited alongside the airline. In this way, I hope we can separate the real safety issues from political ones.
Cheers,
Walter.
